Bose Cinemate Review - Series II Home Theater Speaker System:

Bose is synonymous with audio excellence. Their lines of home theater systems, computer speakers, headphones, digital music systems, and stereo speakers are unsurpassed in quality and ingenuity. How has Bose stayed on top of an ever-changing audio industry? By putting every cent of profit back into their business. Bose has a reputation for excellence in research and commitment to quality in its products. It seems the company has always known that what may have been science fiction in the past can turn into a reality tomorrow or the next day. Bose has always been concerned with improving people’s lives. Good enough is never good enough for Bose, and it shouldn't be good enough for you. You deserve sound that is rich and true, and you can get it with Bose. Our advice: get it on Amazon. You will pay much less over other vendors, and you can view the complete line of Bose speakers here. Bose was founded in 1964, when an MIT electrical engineering professor found that his new stereo system didn't have the realism of a live performance. He wanted better - so he made it. By 1968, Dr. Amar G. Bose and his fledgling company had produced the 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker system. It was based on tireless research in both speaker design and the human perception of sound, called psychoacoustics. The speakers' ability to give the listener the sense he was hearing a live performance made it a success, and ever since, Bose has been improving, reinventing, experimenting, and researching ways to make it even better.

Bose CineMate - Bose is in top form with the CineMate. Bose has a complete line of home theater systems, some of them quite elaborate and extensive. The Lifestyle 48 Series IV, for instance, has four cube speaker arrays, a horizontal center channel speaker, five speaker cables, Digital Dynamic Range speaker compression circuitry, an ADAPTiQ audio calibration system, and enough other features to put other speakers to shame. You don't simply watch a movie or listen to music with these speakers: you get inside of it. But it also costs almost $4000 on Amazon. That is quite a price tag, even if you do get outstanding quality. For those who want quality without spending too much, the CineMate is ideal. It is a more modest system, and its features include:

*Infrared remote controls with LED display
*Two compact articulated array speakers. Each has Dual 2 Drivers and Video-Shielded Magnets
*2.1 channel virtual-surround sound
*Acoustimass Bass Module with 5.25 Long-throw Woofers
*TrueSpace Digital Processing Circuitry

There are essentially 3 products you can choose from - the original Cinemate, the Series II Cinemate, and the GS Series II digital system. They start at roughly $465 and the high end GS Cinemate goes for $800. We found Bose Cinemate reviews on CNET and at Amazon. All the consumer comments we read were fairly positive. The GS II system gets the best reviews, although you are paying a premium for this 2.1 channel speaker system. The improved digital acoustic performance is what customers like the best - best suited for small to medium sized rooms that want a theater environment. The Bose CineMate GS Series II features Gemstone speakers - small yet very efficient speakers. The setup is rather simple with 4 connections. Some owners mention that if you want "full blown sound" to go with another package, but most homeowners were more than satisfied with the performance and sound quality from the GS Series II.

Why Buy a Bose CineMate?:

With only two speakers, some are hesitant to try a CineMate. Are other home theater systems better? Does it really have surround sound speakers? Will I feel like I'm in the middle of a movie or concert? Will the bass and treble be clear? These questions are all important, but the simple answer is yes. You will get a real Bose experience, but you will get it with two speakers and for under $500. Other than the price, though, why buy a Bose CineMate?

Reviews typically point out a few additional reasons, simplicity and convenience being at the top of the list. You'd have to be an electrical engineer like Dr. Bose to put some home theater systems together. The CineMate is more compact and much easier to put together so you can begin enjoying surround sound in no time. Also of note is the sound. It is worth mentioning again: this is a great sounding system. A user review tells us that this system upgrades your home theater and offers both convenience and terrific sound. The target market for the CineMate is those who want to upgrade their stock TV speakers without taking up a lot of space in a small to medium sized room. No, it is not the same as a 5.1 system, but it is exponentially better than a stock sound system. The CineMate is also great for small rooms for those of us who just have a living room, not a whole home theater. It doesn't overpower a room, nor does it produce sound that is too big and too much for your space. You can connect up to fourteen devices to your Bose system: want great sound in your living room, bedroom, guest room, kitchen, or anywhere in your home? You've got it. This is a feature that really makes the $500 price tag eminently worth it.

What the Experts Say about the Bose CineMate:

A reviewer on ConsumerGuides at HowStuffWorks.com, writes that the CineMate offers users an easy way to enjoy surround sound without having to waste time setting up an overly complex system. aLa Test, a consumer testing site, gave the CineMate a score of 84, or Very Good. With the price, we can upgrade that to Excellent. But the experts you should really listen to are people who have purchased the speaker system. What do they think? One user loved the CineMate because she didn't have to bore holes all over her house and find room for five or more speakers. You won't be tripping over cords and equipment in your living room or family room. Bose products are for people who demand superior quality. If you don't want to pay four figures for that, the CineMate offers a wonderful solution. Phenomenal sound, easy set up, and inobtrusive design. And, oh yeah, a much lighter bill. Give the CineMate a try: you will not regret it. Browse Amazon's line of home theaters and see if anything else comes close to Bose.
