The Optoma DV10 is a portable DVD player and projector, allowing you to project a 100+ inch high resolution widescreen movie display on a blank wall or pull-down screen. Lightweight and quiet, this little unit lets you carry a big screen TV in your arms - take it from room to room, to presentations, to a friends, whatever. A built-in DVD player on top allows you to pop in a DVD, and using the backlit DVD control buttons, fire up your movie. Also included is a VGA input for connecting and displaying content from a PC or laptop. S Video input is included as well for projecting from a video camera or other similar source.
The DV10 has a DLP-based engine, sporting a 854x480 resolution and a 16:9 wide screen ratio. This gives you best possible picture and resolution for wide-screen based movies. The 99 inch display comes from setting the unit about 10-12 feet from the projection surface. Actual projection is at an upward angle, allowing you to show your movie higher up on a wall or screen even with the projector set at a normal table-top level.
What's the best HD video projection solution?
Completing this integrated package are 5-watt stereo speakers, capable of good volume with little or no distortion, even at full volume. Like most DVD players, there is also audio out connectors for routing sound through your home sound system. Also included is a remote control and carrying bag. At a cost of approx. $1500, the Optoma video projector could be a viable alternative to expensive large screen TVs for some settings. Though not quite as fashionable or elegant as those snazzy LCD and Plasma wall-hanging screens, the overall picture and sound experience of the Optoma is competitive.
