Double Stroller Reviews:

Not everyone needs a double stroller since they are designed for 2 smaller toddlers but they do have their purpose. The fact is I see more of these twin strollers in malls and at parks than ever before. I think people are buying the double baby strollers in anticipation of having 2 kids or perhaps even using them to carry another child along on a walk. I know a few moms in our neighborhood that take turns baby sitting the smaller kids and they each will go on a walk with their double strollers. You'll find double strollers in most styles - umbrella, standard, jogging, travel system. The Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport All-Weather Umbrella Stroller is top rated and priced under $100 making it a good value if you want a basic twin stroller to push around. The Graco DuoGlider is a popular tandem stroller that is more heavy duty than the umbrella double strollers. Keep in mind you need to choose between the side by side double strollers and the tandem strollers that seat the toddlers in front of one another. Tandem double strollers tend to outsell the side by side models overall.

The top brands include names like Kolcraft, Baby Trend, InStep, Combi, Jeep Wrangler, Graco, Peg Perego, and Chicco. One of the most expensive brands is Peg Perego but the reviews we found online at consumer websites don't favor their products. The mid-range models from Graco and Baby Trend tend to get the best reviews from owners. You can find double stroller reviews online at Baby-gaga.com, About.com in their multiple babies section, on Epinions, and at Amazon.com. We also found some excellent ratings that are done by Consumer Reports periodically on double strollers. They rate them on ease of use maneuverability, weight, features, and more. The best feedback is always at Amazon.com in their owner postings. You can literally read hundreds of owner reviews on almost any particular brand and product. When you go to buy a double stroller there are some important features to look for. The first thing to keep in mind is that double strollers are harder to steer than the single variety and having adjustable handlebars can make a big difference. We found favorable reviews for the The Inglesina Twin Swift for pushing comfort. A 5-point harness is superior to a 3 point one. A sturdy frame is very important as you don't want the stroller to tip over. You'd be surprised at the recalls for baby/kids equipment. Seat padding is nice to have and if it's washable that's even better. If you plan on having an infant in the double stroller, you'll need seats that recline so that the baby can rest safely. A fully reclining seat is best so that the infant can take a nap or sleep while you are pushing the stroller. The side by side strollers are great, but as mentioned above they can have trouble fitting through some doorways. A width of 30 inches or less is desirable so you can make it through crowds and aisles easier. Our children were 4 years apart so our daughter was just getting out of the stroller when our son needed it. We never had to purhcase a double stroller, but I can see how handy they would be for parents with 2 young toddlers. Some models allow for one child to sit and the other to stand up - such as the Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller or the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand On Tandem Stroller. You can find these strollers in stores like Babies R Us, Target and Walmart. You can browse the most popular double strollers online here.

Side by Side Double Stroller:

If you are lucky enough to have twins or just 2 kids under the age of 4, you'll need a good side by side stroller. Reviews point towards the Inglesina Twin Swift as being the "best buy" but we had trouble finding it listed on popular sites like Amazon. RECOMMENDED - A new model from Graco is getting excellent feedback from experts and consumers alike. The Graco Twin IPO Stroller in Navarro is both compact and very durable. The Graco can fit 2 kids up to 50 pounds each. The multi-position, reclining seat is a must so that toddlers can nap. Use the storage basket to keep diapers, wipes, towels, food, drinks, etc. The stroller will fold down easily with just one hand and the canopy window is great for checking on kids without having to stop. Best Tandem Stroller:

It's hard to go against one of the TOP SELLING tandem strollers on Amazon.com. RECOMMENDED - The Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller is priced just above $200 but reviews say the Quattro is better than the DuoGlider LX and the new Kolcraft 2009 Contours. The rear seat is slightly elevated so even the toddler in the rear can see just as well as the one in the front. The Graco tandem stroller has a parent storage tray up top that allows you to keep drinks or keys. Some parents say that the ability of the Quattro Tour to accept two Graco SnugRide car seats is impressive. Use the one hand fold to collapse the stroller in seconds and at 39 pounds it's actually quite lightweight to some of the competition in this category. Front seat is good for up to 50 lbs and the back is rated at 40 lbs. One other model we thought worth looking at is the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand On Tandem Stroller. The universal car seat adapter will take almost any major brand and the standing platform and seat for an older child is just what many parents need. Many of us have kids that are no longer interested in sitting in the stroller all the time. The Joovy gives your child the option to stand or sit on the unit while a smaller infant is up front.

Double Jogging Stroller:

RECOMMENDED - The InStep Safari Swivel Double Jogging Stroller is a top seller on Amazon with excellent owner reviews. This double jogger stroller starts at about $165 and the 12 inch front pneumatic swivel wheel lets you turn easily. We own an REI baby jogger and it has held up well over the last 4 years but the front wheel doesn't swivel so turning is very hard. The swivel wheel gives you a zero degree turn radius and gives you the ultimate control no matter where you are at. The 16 inch rear wheels on the InStep jogger work great on pavement or even dirt trails. Both the seat pad and grab bar are removable and the under seat storage basket is quite large. The steel frame is durable and the reclining seats make for a happy toddler. The protective canopy keeps the sun out of their eyes and the unit itself folds up nicely. The BOB Revolution Duallie StrollerM gets nearly perfect reviews but you'll pay over $500 for it. The only comparable jogging double stroller is the Schwinn Free Wheeler 2 Double Swivel Wheel.
