The Best Electric and Motor Scooters:

Growing up I remember scooters being a popular way for teenagers to get around. They were the motorized mopeds or motor scooters that required a learners permit to operate. They seemed to fade away in the 1990's and now electric scooters are popular amongst young people again. You see them all over your neighborhoods and town and they certainly look fun and convenient. The razor scooter was another type of scooter that became a huge hit. Kids were begging for the razor scooters not too long ago and now they have moved on to the electric scooters which are just like a kick scooter but they have a motor and battery attached to help them go. Electric scooters can go between 10 and 30 MPH with a range of up to 20 miles. The rechargeable batteries on an electric scooter charge for less than $.05 of electricity from common wall outlets. Takes about 8 hours to recharge to a full battery. The best electric scooters we found were the Amplifier A-7, viza Volt, Go-Ped, Exkate, Go Big, and eGo. All priced out at about $250. Moving on to the real electric motor scooters you get into larger sized two-wheel vehicles with top models like the eGO-2 Cycle, EVT, Lepton, Sol Gato and the more dynamic Jackal, El Chopper, Cheetah, Blade and Shredder. Gas scooters are prevelant as well these days with speeds up to 30 MPH. Even with gas prices going higher, you can still get great mileage on these gas scooters. The best gas scooters are the Razorback V2 Gas Scooter ($199.99), X-treme XG-499 Gas Scooter ($249.99), X-treme XG-550 Gas Scooter ($375), GoPed Sport S25 Gas Scooter ($299.99), and Bladez Moby Cruiz'r 40cc Gas Scooter ($599.99). Scooters are no longer just one type of transportation, they have evolved into multiple styles (electric, motorized, gas, kick).

Scooters made by Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Vespa:

Honda scooters have been around for decades and they still make a quality gas powered scooter. Their line of products include the smaller Metropolitan II ($1849), the Metropolitan, Elite 80 ($2349), the Helix, and the larger Reflex Sport ($5499), Big Ruckus, and Silver Wing. Vespa scooters have been flying around Europe for decades and have always been a popular scooter type in the states as well. Vespa scooters currently offer the Granturismo, LX, PX 150, and all the Piaggio models. Yamaha is more notorious for their motorcycles, but they have been in the scooter business for years with the X-MAX 125, Cygnus X, Jog RR, Neo's, Aerox R, and BW's. Suzuki scooters are bigger than they used to be, but they are definitely safer too. The latest models from Suzuki are the Burgman 650 Exec, Burgman 650, Burgman 400. Other popular scooters are the Vento Phantom 150 Scooter , Kymco scooters, Aprilia scooters, Stella scooters, Vespa Geely Scooters,

Top Mobility Scooters:

On a different note, handicapped or disabled people need mobility scooters to help them get around. The best mobility scooters are made by Pride, EZ-Access, Invacare, Shoprider, Golden, Merits, and Bruno. A good quality Pride Mobility scooter will cost $2500. Rascal makes an excellent line of scooters and powerchairs. "There world famous Rascal Convertable Scooters provide durability and the versatility of three scooters in one. These mobility scooters include luxury features such as a seat lift to help you get up and superior suspension for smooth riding. We also offer power chairs, or electric wheelchairs, for indoor maneuverability".

Scooter Accessories:

If you are looking for scooter helmets, scooter covers, scooter, or upgrade kits, then we recommend going to your local dealer or Suzuki.com, Yamaha.com, or Vespausa.com.

Electric vs Gas Scooters

Used scooters do exist on Ebay and other classified online sites like Craigslist.org, but we have found that cheap scooters may be defective or have faulty parts that could be dangerous. Any scooter that you pick up for cheap, please take to your local scooter store for a complete service to make sure it is running properly before buying it. Often, you will only need to buy a cheap scooter part to have your used scooter up and running like new in no time.
