Who makes the best swim goggles?:

All swimmers whether competitive or recreational use swimming goggles to see better under the water. With heavily clorinated pools it's essential to have good eye protection underwater. If you watch the Olympics, the swimmers all have swim goggles to help guide them through the water as they race for records. The best swim goggles found amongst competitive swimmers are made by Speedo. Their new Hydralign Competition Goggles are $15 and endorsed by Bob Bowman, an Olympic coach. The Aqua Racer Optical ($20) and the Vanquisher Plus ($15) are some of the latest editions to their line of swim goggles. People who wear prescription glasses can get fitted with prescription swim goggles and do away with the hassle of red, irritated eyes each time they go swimming. Other top brand names for swim goggles are Barracuda, Sport Optix, Rec-Specs, SeaVision, and Hilco. The best site for buying swim goggles that we found was at World Wide Aquatics. Their selection was superior to all other sites with major brand names and excellent prices.

Where cand I find night vision goggles?:

Night vision goggles are eye-wear that allow you to see in the dark, mostly used by the military. There are 2 types of night vision goggles - Passive system night vision goggles and Agressive system night vision goggles. The passive type pick up any light and amplify it several thousand times (sometimes all you need is a dim star to provide enough light at night). These goggles are used for war reporting, they tint the picture green since the human eye is most sensitive to shades of green. The agressive system goggles project infrared light and then bases the visualization off the light reflected back. There are currently goggles that combine both of these technologies to create images that are almost as clear as day. In addition to goggles, night vision technology is also used in rifle scopes, security cameras, binoculars, etc. When shopping for night vision goggles, we recommend the Rigel Optics brands which delivers the best quality and overall value. They have many models to choose depending on what you need them for - law enforcement, nighttime work, security, hunting or extreme sports. The different models are the Rigel 3200 Pro Night Vision Goggles/Binoculars for $619, the Rigel 3250 Compact Night Vision goggles for $629, and the Rigel 3300 Night Vision Goggles/Monocular for $389. All Rigel Optics night visions goggles include "superb quality resolution, premium quality headpiece with extra padding, built in IR Illuminator for depth of view, and superior image intensifier tube for crisp night vision images".

Motorcycle Goggles

Motorcycle goggles definitely fit the part of "biker" guys. You pretty much have to ride a Harley or other tough guy motorcycle to wear goggles made by Nannini and other brands. Many states require an actual helmet to ride a motorcycle, but many states allow just a pair of goggles. The modern motorcycle goggles have cylindrical lenses giving unimpeded vision in all directions. Tough, anti-fog, polycarbonate lenses allow for shatterproof protection. The models we saw on the Nanninigoggles.com site cost anywhere from $60-$100. They are definitely stylish and perfect for those long relaxing weekend rides with your buddies.

Ski and Snowboard Goggles:

Sports goggles for skiing or snowboarding are colorful, flashy and offer great eye protection while on the slopes. Some of the top name brands for snow goggles are Anon goggles, Dragon goggles, Electric goggles, Oakley goggles, Arnette goggles, Scott goggles, Smith goggles, and Spy goggles all perfect for the snow season. Snowboard goggles are made by many of the same manufacturers as ski goggles, but there are a few brand names we liked best for snowboarding - VonZipper goggles and Velvet goggles. Other extreme sports like paintball require helmets or paintball goggles to help protect your eyes during play. The sport of racquetball is another where the ball is small enough that you should be wearing goggles while playing.

Safety Goggles:

Anyone who thinks wearing safety goggles is dorky or dumb should consider the followign FACT: "Every day an estimated 1,000 eye injuries occur in American workplaces. The financial cost of these injuries is enormous--more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and workers compensation. No dollar figure can adequately reflect the personal toll these accidents take on the injured workers". Safety goggles should be worn when operating heavy machinery or when doing projects around your house that require drilling or welding. Even when you are using an ax to chop wood, safety goggles are a good precaution. Elvex and HL Bouton make great safety goggles and faceshields for men and women. Safety goggles should fit properly and the lens type should fit the type of activity you are engaging in (i.e. - gray lenses help reduce glare much like sun glasses and are best used in sunny and bright conditions).
