Printing Labels - Best place to buy printed labels online

Before laser printers and inkjet printers, it was tough to print out your own custom labels. People tend to use labels mostly for shipping and packaging uses, with more and more labels now being designed to be read by machine with barcodes and other marking devices. Equally as popular are labels for home use - for mailing lists, addresses, CD labels, DVD labels, index dividers, and more. One of the keys to printing labels properly is having the right software. Most labels come in specific size and shape formats, and unless your software matches up the print output exactly within the dimensions of the peel-off area of the labels, you have a problem. Avery is the leading brand of self-stick labels, and their formats are the dominant ones.

Inkjet and Laser Labels

PlanetLabel.com makes preprinted roll labels, laser printer labels, and inkjet labels. Their inkjet labels include CD-ROM labels with a repositionable adhesive - comes in handy if you've ever tried to place a circular label with perfection! Most of their products are specialized, like high-gloss labels, translucent labels, and thermal labels. For regular home use of labels and replacement label supplies, check out OnlineLabels.com. They have more than 60 label sized to choose from that are compatible with Avery and Maco formats at a lower price. They have circular and oval labels, round cornered labels, CD and DVD labels, and more. All labels are available in various colors, fluorescent colors, clear, weatherproof, gold and silver, and gloss.

Find Label Software

If you are printing out a mailing list on labels, you need some sort of labeling software to align everything properly on the size of labels you intend to use. There are some Microsoft Word templates that do a decent job of this, assuming you know how to use the mail merge function to get your data into the templates. The label templates are designed to work with the standard Avery label formats. NiceLabel.com offers label software that is compatible with Avery, CAB, Comtron, Datamax, Eltron, Intermec, SATO, TSC and Zebra, and is aimed more at the label designer looking to add graphics, bar codes, and more to their printed labels. For more mundane home or home office use, check out Print Studio 2.0 by Jolly Technologies - it handles all your label and printing needs, with business card labels, bar codes, photo ids, envelopes, CD labels. Even less expensive is Avery Label Pro by the label maker themselves, Avery. It easily combines all your mailing addresses with simple templates for mailing labels, inserts, index dividers, you name it, all guaranteed to fit precisely on Avery labels. Less than $40 at Amazon.

CD Labels and DVD Labels

SureThing.com is one the most popular solutions for printing CD and DVD labels. SureThing CD and DVD Labeler Deluxr comes with over 5000 background art clips and lets you print both labels and case inserts. Perfect for your custom music CDs, home movies on DVD, or CDs or DVDs for sale in limited quantities, giving them a professional look. It also works with HP LightScribe direct disc labeling. Circular text and 3-D text effects are no problem - just type in your text and specify how you want it laid out. They also sell the actual labels, not just the label software. Their premium labels won't peel off in high speed drives and wont damage CD surfaces.

Printed Address Labels

One popular type of label is address labels to stick on envelopes. VistaPrint.com offers online selection of hundreds of varieties of printed labels - baby, borders, flowers, gift tags, pets and animals, teens, sports, or use your own photos. You can choose from the templates they have and then add your own text, or upload your own art work for custom labels. 140 self-sticking printed labels will set you back $8. For bumper stickers and decals, check out PSPrint.com - they offer custom sticker and decal printing on special materials that will hold up outdoors. Also check out SuperiorLabels.com for simple address labels - just a buck a sheet, and you can select from over 12000 designs!
