We hear about them everyday, luxury yachts being bought by athletes (Tiger Woods) and computer techies (Paul Allens Octopus Yacht). These are multi-million dollar mega yachts that can hold a small town inside. It's like owning a small cruise ship with multiple bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, formal dining rooms and pools. Carver Yachts makes a Voyager Series which offers 57 Voyager, 56 Voyager, 53 Voyager, 46 Voyager, and the 45 Voyager. These are truly luxury yachts for the super wealthy, but the motor yachts collection from Carver are more reasonably priced. They offer 2 stateroom suites with a spacious living room as the buffer between them. The Carver motor yachts range from 36-46 feet in length with lots of optional features, which makes pricing these luxury boats almost impossible. Just know that you are going to spend $500,000+ to get a custom yacht. A used Carver Yachts 33 Super Sport goes for around $286,000 and the Carver Yachts 42 Mariner sells for $476,128. You can check out all the carver Yachts at Carveryachts.com. Keep reading for more information and reviews on yachts.

Viking Yachts range from 45-82 feet and the family run business is all about the customer. The new 56' Viking Convertible sells for $2.4 million. Hatteras Yacht vs Catalina Yachts:
Hatteras Yachts are sleek and stylish coming in both sportfishing convertibles and motor yachts. They offer a 50C, 54C, 60C, 64C, 68C, 77C, 86C and 90C models in the sportsfishing line of yacht. The Hatteras motor yachts include the 64MY, 80MY, 80MY Sky Lounge, 92MY, 100MY and 100 CMY. A used 1985 Hatteras 80MY goes for about $1 million to give you an idea of what these yachts are worth. The Catalina line of yachts are my personal favorite. Having grown up on sailboat, I was exposed to several Catalina sailboats when I was younger and really liked their design and performance. The larger yachts from Catalina are the 400 mark II 2-cabin, 400 mark II 3-cabin, CatalinaMorgan 440, and the Catalina 387 (sells for $160K+). You can view their entire product line at CatalinaYachts.com.
Yachts for Sale:
There are literally thousands of yachts for sale across the U.S. on any given day, but the key is to finding one near where you live so you don't have to ship it 1000's of miles. An excellent site for finding a used Yacht for sale is at Yachtworld.com with listings by manufacturer - Bayliner, Beneteau, Carver, C & C, Catalina, Chris-Craft, Cruisers, Hatteras, Hunter, Pearson, Sea Ray, Silverton, and Wellcraft. You can also choose to search by boat type - power boats, sailboats, motor yachts, express, cruiser, fisherman, etc. The best way to search is initially by state or your specific location to see what is available locally (trust me you will save a fortune on shipping fees). Yacht brokers are another way to go if you can't find something on your own. Yacht brokers have access to high end yachts that may not be advertised traditionally. MerrittYachts.com is located in Florida is a yacht broker that specializes in power, mega yachts, motor yachts, and sport yachts. One other great resource online is at YachtTraderOnline.com with thousands of listings to search through.
Renting a Yacht - Yacht Rentals:
Need to rent a yacht, perhaps charter a luxury yacht in the Caribbean. There are websites out there designed just for this purpose. One of my closest friends goes to the Caribbean each year to go boating and he rents a yacht for a week with his buddies. LuxuryYachtcharter.com has charter yachts available all over the world (Greece, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Hawaii, etc). A one week charter yacht (160 footer) in Greece will be at least $85K. Charterworld.com also offers destination cruises aboard chartered yacht, pretty much for the wealthiest people. We suggest going with a reputable company (perhaps getting a personal reference) so that your money is well spent.
