Tuxedo Rental Stores:

Most likely, if you are a man, you will at one point in time need to rent a tuxedo for a wedding, prom, graduation, or formal event. There are many chain tuxedo rental stores like Tuxedo Junction, After Hours, or the Men's Wearhouse that will rent you a tuxedo as a 1 time rental. Usually the cost is about $75-$150 depending on style and accessories needed. Many of the online sites we found that rent tuxedos are located in many states (California, Illinois, New York, etc), but many are not fully national. The Men's Wearhouse is a great store to try first if you have one in your area since they are notorious for great customer service and offer great deals on tuxedo rentals in hoping that you may come back to buy a suit some day. See if there is one in your area at MensWearhouse.com.

If you are a groom and have a wedding coming up, most places you register at will give you a free rental if you have 4 groomsmen that get tuxedo rental packages through the store. Don't have time to even get to a tuxedo rental store, there is a new online store that allows you to send in your measurements over the phone or via email/fax and get a tuxedo sent to your door. It's at Tuxedo-Rental.com. You can get free shipping and handling if you rent 3 or more tux's at $150/each. Having never tried this option, make sure you give yourself plenty of time in advance of your wedding if you are going to do the internet order.

Should I buy a Tuxedo?:

I've asked this question many times myself, should I just buy a tuxedo since I'll probably need to wear it at least 5 times in my life. The answer is yes if you need to wear a tuxedo to any event 3-4 times in the next 2 years. Anything longer than that and your body may change over time which means alterations and that can cost more than a rental. The body you have at 20 may not be the same you have at 30 or even 40 and some tuxedo styles aren't always popular. So again, the rule of thumb is if you plan on renting a tuxedo more than 3 times in the next year or 2, you are better off buying one. We found a good site to get information on buying tuxedos at FineTuxedos.com.

Tuxedo Shirt

Ever seen someone wearing a t-shirt that looks like the front of a tuxedo? Some people wear these tuxedo shirts for run, but others actually wear them to weddings, parties and other events. Short sleeve versions of the tuxedo shirt sell for $12.99-$20 and the long sleeve more popular style sell for $19.99-$23.99. The best site for ordering these funny shirts we found was at Tuxshirt.com.

Prom Tuxedo Rentals:

It's always stressful being a teenager and prom time can get expensive for young men if they have to rent a tuxedo, get a limousine, and buy a corsage for their date. After Hours Formalwear is a great store for prom goers to get their tux and clothing supplies like shoes, vests, ties, socks, etc. There is even a special online website just for proms at AfterhoursProm.com which has a great FAQ section on prom etiquette from limo tipping, to meeting your date's parents and more. Prices start at $49.99 for a prom tuxedo and the staff will help match your tuxedo to the colors of your date's dress. In our area, all the high school kids go to After Hours for tuxedo rentals because they take such good care of their customers.
