Best TV Stands for Plasma and LCD TVs

The first thing to consider when buying a TV stand is the type and size of your TV. If it is a flat panel, you have options for having it stand on a shelf or be mounted on an arm that is part of the stand. If you are planning for a gargantuan 50"+ TV, you'll want to make sure your stand is large enough to handle the size and weight of the TV. The next critical item is shelving. How much room do you need to store everything else that goes with the TV (DVD players, cable boxes, the Wii..) - most shelves are large enough to cover standard size component electronics, but measure to be sure.
