With the recent surge in oil and gas prices, it seems SUVs have fallen a bit out of favor as the hybrid Prius has zoomed in popularity. But Cadillac's first foray into the luxury SUV 4x4 market has still been a smashing success, with the Cadillac Escalade winning many awards for design, performance, and reliability. First seen on the streets in 1999, the early Escalades were basically spiffed-up Denalis (just like the Lincoln Navigator was a fancy Ford Expedition). They've become the hip, must-have vehicles for many celebrities, rock stars, and movie stars - large, impressive vehicles that can haul your whole posse, or your kids and all their gear.
The 2006 Cadillac Escalade has a base price of $54,725, while the 2007 Escalade is listed below. The 2007 Cadillac Escalade (which will be available in early 2006) features 22" factory installed wheels, and generous chrome accents. A 3" wider track in the front and 1" in the rear gives the 2007 Escalade an even more aggressive look for this luxury SUV. The all aluminum 6.2L V-8 engine pumps out 403HP, enough to power you through most offroad and onroad obstacles. The leather and wood appointed interior comes with an optional voice-assisted DVD navigation system with a large 8" LCD touch screen. The distinctive wood and leather steering wheel even comes with an electric heating option - talk about luxury! These Escalades are obviously big vehicles, with a weight of 5700lbs for the AWD version and 202" in length (116" wheelbase). The 2007 Escalade is available in several colors: black raven, gold mist, blue chip, quick silver, red e, and radiant bronze.
Buying a Used Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is not a cheap vehicle, and many people are looking to save money by picking them up in the used marketplace - not a bad idea. You can get a 4 year old Escalade for about 50% of the normal sticker price - a significant savings on a vehicle that will easily run for 100,00 miles or more. AutoByTel.com has plenty of information on both new and used Cadillac Escalades, mostly from dealers. For example, they have a 2003 Escalade with 33K miles for $39K. AutoTrader.com is a good site to visit if you are looking for used cars from private owners. You've probably seen their magazines before, but their website digs into the same database and presents you with yours available within any mileage radius your specify. A search turns up over 200 listings for Escalades within 200 miles - a 2005 Escalade with 14K miles for $46k, a 2003 Escalade with 35k miles for $37K, and much more.
Cadillac.com has a nice section of photos of the Escalade. If you are looking for free Escalade Wallpaper, check out Wallpaperworld.com. For free Escalade Screen Savers downloads, visit ScreenSaverHeaven.com.
