Chevrolet has been making the American classic Corvette for over 50 years. The Corvette first appeared in 1953, with its long body and dramatic fins in the rear. The convertible roadster image has always been part of the Corvette appeal, and over the years it has evolved ino the only real American high-performance sports car. Classic corvettes from the 50's and 60's can still be found on the highway, with afficionados taking great care in maintaining and restoring these machines. The newest Corvettes offer speed and power that is almost unbelievable. Check out the latest models below, with classic Corvette information at the end.
2006 Corvette pictures, prices
You can check out the GM website for lots of specs and pictures of the new Corvettes. There are 3 Corvette models available for 2006 and 2007. The Corvette Coupe is the base model, starting at $45,000. It has a 400HP 6L aluminum engine and a removable roof panel for that convertible look. There is even an option for a 6-speed paddle shifter on the steering wheel, just like in a professional racecar - move up and down through the gears with a flick of the finger. The convertible model starts at $53K, and is available in many colors - velocity yellow, sunset orange, victory red, red metallic, blue metallic, artic white, silver metallic, and of course black. At the top of the Corvette line is the Z06, which starts at $65K. This monster has a 505HP 7L hand-built engine. Chevrolet offers a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
