Dodge cars and trucks have been a mainstay of American life for years. They had muscle cars in the 1960's with the 1969 Dodge Charger and went on to make the Dodge Challenger for the 1970's. There slogan is "Grab Life by the Horns" which literally means get in your car and drive it fast. The current Dodge 2006 models for cars include the Neon, Stratus, SRT4 and Magnum. The Dodge Neon comes in an SE or STX model with the SE starting at $14395 with a 2.0 liter, 132 horsepower engine. It's the smallest of the Dodge vehicles, but with the current gas crises, gets the best mileage. The Dodge STR4 is a little sportier than the Neon and sells for $21295 with a 2.4 liter turbocharged engine that gives you 230 horsepower. It does zero to 60 in less than 6 seconds. The Dodge Stratus Coupe comes in either the SXT or R/T models. The Stratus Coupe SXT has an MSRP of $21160 and performs well with a 147 horsepower 2.4 liter engine. The Stratus R/T is a little more powerful with 200 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 engine that comes with a five-speed manual transmission. The suspension is sporty and the pricetag is $23655. All pricing and descriptions available at Dodge.com.
The Dodge Stratus sedan SXT prices out at $20140 with a 2.4 liter, 150 HP engine and a four-speed automatic transmission. The R/T model again packs a little more punch at $24120 with more HP (200) and a V6 engine. Warranty on most of these models is 36 months or 36,000 miles. The new Dodge Magnum comes in a variety of models - the SE, SXT, R/T, and SRT8. The SE is the low end model at $22995 and offers 190 HP with a V6 engine while the top end SRT8 has a 6.1 liter Hemi engine that delivers 425 horsepower for a price of $37995. So far the reviews for the Dodge Magnum wagon are very positive with driver experience being good. As with all new model cars, we'll have to wait a few years to see all the kinks come out of it before we know if the model is here to stay. Dodge has a reputation for building sturdy cars and the Magnum SRT8 will be driven hard by its owners and should hold up to the workout.
Dodge Trucks - Ram - Dakota:
When I think of Dodge, I think of their trucks. The Dodge Dakota has been a top seller for years. The Dakota Club Cab and Dakota Quad Cab both come in an ST, sLT and Laramie models. The Dakota Quad Cab ST start at $22055, the SLT for $23810, and the Laramie for $27305. The Laramie has a 4.7 liter Magnum V8 engine with leather trimmed seating and an Alpine sound system. The 2006 Dodge Ram SRT10 Regular Cab is the world's fastest production pickup truck with 500 HP and an 8.3 liter V10 Viper engine. The SRT10 sells for $48505 while the Ram 1500 regular cab is much cheaper and less showy. The Dodge Ram 1500, 1500 Quad Cab, and 1500 Mega Cab are built for tough work. The MEGA Cab Ram 1500 has an MSRP $37855 for the Laramie model and has a standard 345 horsepower 5.7 liter HEMI V8 Engine.
Dodge Sports Cars - Viper - Charger:
I remember years ago seeing a Dodge Viper at a local car rally and wondering what in the heck it was. After seeing it perform in an autocross event, I was hooked. The thing was amazing sticking to the ground on sharp corners yet it had the acceleration of a rocket. The 2006 Dodge Viper is fully loaded with an 8.3 liter V10 Engine that puts out 510 horsepower with 535 lb-ft of torque. The Viper does 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds and comes in a roadster or coupe design. The Viper Roadster sells for $85745 while the Viper SRT10 Coupe is slightly more at $86995 and pretty much comes equipped with the same features as the Roadster. If you test drive these cars, you will be hooked. The New 2006 Dodge Charger is a flashback to the past when Dodge Chargers were the muscle cars that everyone wanted. Now that bigger is better again, Dodge has produced the Dodge Charger SE, SXT, R/T, Daytona R/T and SRT8. It's confusing, we know. The SE starts at $22995 with 250 HP with a V6 engine and a five-speed AutoStick transmission. The Charge R/T is a step up with the Hemi engine and goes for $30195. The performance is notable between the SE and R/T, so if you plan on driving the car hard, go with the R/T. The SRT8 Dodge Charger is the powerhouse of the group at $38095. The SRT8 has a 6.1 liter SRT Hemi engine with 425 HP and Goodyear performance tires. For sheer brut muscle in cars, Dodge is doing a great job with the Viper and Charger.
Dodge Minivan/SUV - Caravan - Durango
Dodge Caravans have been around the minivan market for years and have a good, solid reputation for reliability. The new Dodge Caravan SE starts at $19095 with standard AC, Dual sliding doors, and CD player. The easy out roller seats makes changing the seating configuration easy when on the go. The Dodge Grand Caravan offers a larger engine with a touch more room. The V6 engine and the 3rd row seating has a 60/40 split bench with tailgate feature. The Grand Caravan SE starts at $23745 and goes up to $31365 for the Special Edition model. What car company would be complete without an SUV? Dodge gives you the Durango SE, SLT, Adventurer and Limited. The Limited interior comes standard with leather and an available 5.7 liter HEMI V8 Engine give you all the power you need for passing, towing or around town driving.
