Reviews of the 2007 Toyota Tundra - 2008 Toyota Tundra:
Much like the Toyota Tacoma, the 2007 Toyota Tundra comes in 4 models - Tundra Regular Cab, Tundra Access Cab, Tundra Double Cab, Tundra DW. The Toyota Tundra Regular Cab has both a V6 ($16155) and a V8 ($18630). The Regular Cab comes standard with a 4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve EFI V6 with VVT-i 236 hp @ 5200 rpm; 266 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm but has an optional 4.7-liter DOHC 32-valve EFI
V8 with VVT-i 271 hp @ 5400 rpm; 313 lb.-ft. @ 3400 rpm. These are great around town type of trucks, but the Tundra Access Cab (SR5 V6, SR5 V8, StepSide V8, and Limited V8/Stepside V8) are what we prefer. The engine on the V6 is the same as the Regular Cab but the Stepside V8 comes standard with the 4.7 liter 271 HP engine. This is better for towing capacity and it has a little more room for passengers or storage area behind the main driver and passenger seats. Gas mileage on the Stepside V8 is 16/18, not great but it will do as a work truck. The Tundra Access Cab starts at $22590 and tops out at $25065 for the Limited V8.
The Toyota Tundra Double Cab SR5 V8 ($26620) and the Double Cab Limited V8 ($30245) are excellent workhorses for pulling, towing, hauling. Cab space is large with the extended cab and the safety features Toyota has added to the Tundra make it safe for the family as well. The Double Cab comes in both a 4x2 and 4x4 model with a standard 5-speed electronically automatic controlled transmission (ECT-i) with overdrive. The suspension is a "Coil-spring double-wishbone independent front suspension with low-pressure gas-filled shock absorbers and stabilizer bar" and "leaf spring rear suspension with low-pressure gas-filled shock absorbers". These models are where you see people getting a lift kit for the Toyota Tundra. There is a new 2007 Toyota Tundra DW ($29615) that is a Darrell Waltrip special edition. Comes with 18-in alloy wheels, custom graphics, custom grill, TRD dual exhaust, and much more. You can check out all the specs and performance and safety details of all Tundras at Toyota.com/tundra/.
Used Toyota Tundra:
Before you consider buying a used Toyota Tundra, there are a few sites you need to visit online. The first is Tundrasolutions.com which has research and discussion boards on issues or problems that owners have had with various models. Then make sure you get pricing details on the used model you want at KBB.com (Kelly Blue Book). After deciding on a model and price, give Edmunds.com a try and compare side by side your used Toyota Tundra to the competition so you can see exactly what you are getting (or not getting). When you are ready and convinced you are making a good decision, then go to Ebay Motors, Autobytel.com, or Carmax.com to find a Toyota Tundra in your area. We found some great deals online for 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2005 Toyota Tundras, and 2000 Toyota Tundras. Always take a used car to your local Toyota dealership or a certified Toyota mechanic ot have it inspected before you buy it used. Toyota dealers even run a certified pre-owned Toyota truck program where you can get used vehicles with a warranty direct from the dealer.
