Yamaha Motorcycle Buying Guide - Sport - Street - ATV:
Yamaha motorcycles have always been rated and reviewed very high by owners and experts. They have dominated pro racing for years along with other Japanese motorcycle makers like Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki. I used to own a Honda Interceptor and my brothers had Kawasaki Ninjas - popular streetbikes from the 1980's that were nicknamed "crotch rockets". The latest Yamaha street bikes, sports motorcycles and ATV's look better than ever with a wide spectrum of power, style and prices. The Yamaha YZF-R1 is a MotoGP inspired performance and technology sportbike that starts at $11299. The race ready YZF-R1 LE is a limited edition model that sells for about $18000. The R1 LE offers some unbelievable features and sleek styling that will surely make eyeballs turn when they see you on this street bike. For just a little over $9000 you can get the FZ1 - the "current generation 998cc DOHC 20-valve R1 engine is tuned for tremendous mid-range punch". We like the YZF-R6S and the YZF600R which are in the $7000-$8200 price range with excellent performance reviews and rated high for reliability. The FZ6 is a low end model for $6799 and is a good starter bike for those interested in sportbikes. The Super Sport Touring bikes are the FJR1300A and the FJR1300AE which start at $13499 and have a nice combined sport bike and touring look and feel.
Beyond motorcycles you see on the streets, Yamaha also makes great off-road motorycles. The Motocross models for 2007 have some new styles which should make things exciting for people in the market for a new off-road bike. The YZ450F is new and is offered at $6999 with a four-stroke engine that truly delivers. The YZ250 was named "Transworld Motocross Magazine's '2006 250cc Two-stroke Bike of the Year" and should do well in 2007. The other new model is the YZ250F for $6149 - a fun, high revving performance four-stroke. The YZ125 and the YZ85 are steady performers that are good starter off-road dirtbikes with a low pricetag. The Off-Road series has 2 new models as well - the WR450F and the WR250F. They offer sharp handling, enough power, and are very nimble for those quick maneuvers. The TT-R230, TT-R125L/LE, TT-R125E, TT-R90E, and the TT-R50E are all smaller versions of the WR series with a variety of engine sizes to fit younger riders. The PW50 at $1099 is a great way to get started on a dirt bike and learn how to feel comfortable riding. The Sport ATV models for 2007 are the Raptor, Wolverine and YFZ series. The new Raptor 700R GYTR Edition ($7749) and the Raptor 700R SE ($7649) look like fun models to drive. The GYTR has a front grab bar, heel guards, and adjustable piggy back shocks while the 700R SE has special edition front and rear suspensions and a hi/lo speed compression damping. The YFZ450 SE is fresh on the scene as well for $7449 with cool graphics and front/rear adjustable piggy-back shocks. Other Yamaha ATV models are the Wolverine 450 4X4, Raptor 350, Wolverine 350, Raptor 80, and Raptor 50. If you want a utility ATV, then check out the Grizzly and Big Bear ATV's from Yamaha. Used Yamaha Motorcycles:
The used motorcycle market is a great place to start when looking for any motorcycle. Owning a motorcycle and committing to riding it enough to make it worth the cost is always something that first time owners underestimate. You can therefore find great deals on used motorcycles that have barely been used. Look on sites like Cycletrader.com or Wheelbynet.com to see what is offered in your price range and bike style (street, performance, dirt, sport, atv). For a more local market, you can always try sites like Craigslist.org or Ebay which has such volume you would most likely be able to find something in your neck of the woods. For $5000 you can find a reasonably, good conditioned used motorcycle with low mileage.
