Reviews of the best Notebook Apple Computers - Laptop Apple Computers - MacBook - MacBook Pro:
Apple computers can do more than PC's, but the problem is that 95% of all software is written for PC's, not Macs. Therefore, Apple computer users have always been left in a group to fend for themselves while the PC industry does little to suppor them. Apple users demand the best and consistently are surprised when they see the latest offerings, especially the notebooks and laptops from Apple. The Macbook offers a standard 13.3 inch widescreen display, an Intel Core Duo processor, Front Row and Apple Remote, and Magsafe Power Adapter. The Macbook ranges in price from $1099-$1499 and the glossy widescreen monitors display incredible color quality with photos and videos. The built in iSight camera makes it easy to video chat with friends/family when you launch the iChat AV application. The Front Row interface lets you be in charge of music, movies, and photos while using a remote control from across the room.
The MacBook Pro is something only high end users need. It's capability to process graphics and videos is nothing short of astounding while the 15-inch and 17-inch widescreen options make the perfect screen size for viewing multimedia files. They range in price from $1999-$2799. The 1-inch slim design still allows for a "full complement" of ports and connections - security port, USB 2.0, Firewire 400, Gigabit Ethernet, Dual Link DVI, Magsafe Port, Expresscard. With Apple recently having switched to only Intel processors, the possibilities are endless as to what we can expect in future models. The Apple Macintosh was a thing of beauty years ago (the first computer I ever used) and they have somehow maintained a foothold (5%) in the computer market through design technology, innovative features, and computers that actually work properly without having to be rebooted every day.
Desktop Apple Computers - Imac - Power Mac G5:
Apple has been awing people for years with their innovative designs and incredible space saving machines when compared to the PC market. Imac users are loyal and who wouldn't be with the power and versatility their computers offer. The latest Imac includes the Intel Core Duo processor up to 2 Ghz, a built in iSight camera, a Superdrive for CD or DVD burning, Mac OS X Tiger, and a large 17-inch widescreen LCD with 1440 X 900 resolution for about $1299. They offer a 20-inch screen some other extras for $1699. The Apple Computer Imac comes with built in Airport Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0 for easy wireless connections no matter where you are. The current Imac is great for your music, video or photo needs and the software (more on that below) is intuitive and doesn't require reading a 200 page manual just to view pictures or movie files like a PC. The Mac Mini is a newer concept from Apple that sells for $599-$799. The Mac mini allows you to hook up monitors, keyboards, and a mouse to the box you can carry around. Very seamless process and quite a new way of thinking (would you expect anything less from Apple). The Mac Mini comes with software like iLife 06, Front Row, Big Bang Board Games, Comic Life, OmniOutliner, and applications like Quicken for Mac 2006 and Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. The ultimate desktop computer from Apple is the Power Mac G5. This computer is priced from $1999-$3299 and comes with the dual-core PowerPC G5 processor, support for 30-inch displays on all models, and gives you dual gigabit ethernet ports. There is also a Power Mac G5 Quad with 2 dual core processors, the speed and performance is incredible. It is so customizable that you can have up to 16GB of memory and 1 terabyte of storage. Althougth Macs are expensive, the customer loyalty and satisfaction remains even after all the years of PC makers trying to get the last 5% of Mac users to switch over. You can find all the latest Apple computers online at the Apple Computer Store located at Store.Apple.com.
Used Apple Computers - Discount Deals:
If you are looking for an Apple computer at a discount, you will have a long search. It is pretty much common knowledge that Apple does not allow retailers to re-price Apple systems arbitrarily. This means that the price of a new Apple computer would probably be the same no matter where you buy it. The only thing retailers do is give you incentives and add-on like free RAM, printers, carrying case, etc to get you to buy from them. Beside Apple Stores, you can get Apple computers at BestBuy, Fry's Electronics, and Wolf Camera. If you want a used Apple computer, that is another story. Many online stores offer refurbished Macs that are fairly cheap. One example is at Powermax.com where you can pre-owned Macs at discount prices. A certified pre-owned G5 was selling for $1319 at the time of this writing on their site. Another excellent site for used Apple computers is at Macnstuff.com.
Apple Computer Software:
Quicktime is the most famous Apple software that works on both PC's and Macs. It allows you to watch movie files, great for the latest trailers from Hollywood movies or just watching your home videos stored on your PC/Mac. Unfortunately, most computer software is still written strictly for PC's and Mac owners have a hard time getting some software. With only about 1 in 20 computers users on Macs, you can imagine the issues that come up when they want to share files with friends that aren't compatible on PC's. The advent of shareware/freeware on the Internet has spawned so many new programs for PC users, but Apple has been left out in many cases. Most software makers are small operations (many do it just for fun) and they don't have the skills to write code in both Mac and Pc's languages. They write for the masses, which still remains the PC market. For the latest in Apple/Mac software, be sure to check the Apple website (Apple.com) or try software retailers like SoftwareOutlet.com or Amazon.com.
