They are about the size of an old telephone modem box, but more modern and elegant in their design, usually featuring just a button or two on the front. You simply plug in the power cord and connect the external drive to your PC via either USB 2.0 or FireWire. You don't have to open your PC or worry about drivers - your computer will recognize the device as a new lettered (D:) hard drive, and you are ready to start dumping data onto it.
Seagate also offers 2.5GB and 5GB pocket drives. They have a retractable USB cord and are powered via the USB port, making it easy to plug, play, copy, and carry any data you need. Seagate also offers a family of portable hard drives in 40, 100, and 200GB capacities, about the size of a paperback book.
