Canon has been at the forefront of photography for decades and has led digital camera technology over the past few years with digitals for both professional photographers and amateurs who like to take pictures. The PowerShot digital cameras from Canon shoot high quality digital photos and are lightweight and easy to use. Perhaps you have seen Maria Sharapova (tennis star) promoting these new digital cameras. The Powershot series are offered in high-end models as well as your traditional point and shoot for the beginner to intermediate. The top of the line Powershot series includes the new SX130IS digital camera from Canon with 12.1 megapixels, super long 12X optical zoom and image stabilizer technology to get smooth and sharp images or movies. You can pick up this latest digital camera for about $250 at Amazon.com. The other high end models are the PowerShot S95 with 10 Megapixels and 3.8 wide angle optical zoom and 3.0-Inch inch LCD.
Best Canon Digital Cameras:
The Powershot point and shoot digital cameras are our favorites (made for beginners). The Canon PowerShot SD780IS is priced at around $200 and offers 12.1 megapixels, 3x optical image stabilized zoom and a nice LCD display. Customer reviews are near perfect for this model on Amazon with over 600 available to read. The Canon PowerShot SD1300IS and S90 are 2 more offerings from Canon that get great feedback from owners and experts alike. All these are great cameras and should do fine for the average photographer in the crowd. We do recommend getting at least 10 megapixels and 4x optical zoom. Most digital cameras now offer reasonably good video capture capability (640 X 480 or larger). Battery life is always an issue with LCD screens on these digital cameras, but they are getting better. The internet is a great place to start your research and read reviews from people who have already bought the latest digital cameras from Canon. Amazon offers an excellent customer feedback section which should give you insights into which features are necessary on Canon digital cameras and which ones give you problems. Our experience with Canon has been nothing short of brilliant. Browse the best selling Canon digital cameras here.
Canon EOS Camera Systems (SLR):
The EOS System from Canon "is the most complete Single Lens Reflex (SLR) in the world". The Digital EOS cameras from Canon are so superior from what the average digital camera users its truly amazing. The 16 megapixel EOS-1Ds Mark II sells for a little less than $7000 (made for professionals). The features include full frame 16.7 megapixel CMOS image sensor, Canon's blazing DIGIC II Image Processor, captures up to 32 consecutive shots at speeds up to 4 frames-per-second, and compatibility with over 50 EF Lenses. Most of us probably don't need 16 megapixels, so we recommend the 8 MP EOS-1D Mark II N ($3600) which can shoot 8.5 frames per second with a large 2.5 inch LCD screen. Also the controls on the camera are very intuitive and easy to follow. The Canon EOS 5D 12.8 MP Digital SLR Camera ($2475) is both lightweight and small. With lighter digital cameras, having a tripod to steady the camera is a must. The new Canon EOS 30D 8.2MP Digital SLR Camera ($1150) is really impressive in all lighting and the outdoor photos are superb. With DIGIC II Image Processor, the Canon EOS 30D is well worth the extra money. The Digital Rebel XT ($700) with SLR performance, 8.0 megapixels, lightweight and compact body, and easy to use features, make it the perfect gift. We found no other camera that beginners as well as advanced photographers liked better than the Rebel XT. All the Canon cameras are online with full details and descriptions at USA.Canon.com. All Canon digital cameras can be bought online at Amazon.com or in stores like BestBuy. View top rated Canon digital SLRs here.
Canon Digital Camera Battery:
Battery life is something all users should consider when buying a digital camera, especially with the new larger LCD screens on these cameras that just suck the life out of your batteries. Most battery packs are rechargeable in the docking station the camera sits in while plugged into the computer or you can plug it straight into a wall. Nevertheless, the older your camera gets, it always seems like the battery life is never as good as when you first bought the camera. You can always buy replacement batteries for any Canon camera at Planetbattery.com for about $12-$40.
