What is the best online degree program?:The internet has opened up a new arena for college educations. Now you can get a degree online. Yes, no actual going to school, just logging into your computer and taking classes via the internet. Many online universities offer bachelor degrees online, masters degrees online, and business or associate degrees online. The real issue arises with credibility of these online degree programs. Is a degree from Phoenix University (the online school) just as good or accredited as a degree from UCLA? It appears that more and more people are using these online degree programs to get their bachelors or master degrees online and advancing in the workplace. The one big drawback to getting a college degree online is that there is little if any face to face time in class which promotes discussions and learning in an interactive environment. As a potential employer hiring a new employee, I would definitely take a 2nd look at a job candidate who say "got a computer science degree online" versus actually attending a real school in person. Part of college is attending classes and interacting with students to help promote ideas and thoughts, that the internet just can't duplicate. Some people have little choice in attending college except via online education programs (whether they live to far from a college or can only do late night classes) and these online universities have made it convenient to get a degree online. The most recognized online degree programs are offered by Phoenix University, DeVry University, Walden, and Kaplan University. Whether they are fully accredited or not is something you will need to look into and decide if it's worth putting on your resume that you graduated from an online university.

How much is an online degree?:We used the University of Phoenix online as our example of cost associated with online degrees. Other sites may vary slightly, but we found these to be the average costs. Application fee is $110. Undergraduate tuition for business/technology is $460/credit hour and nursing was $400/credit hour. Graduate tuition is $570/credit hour for business/technology and nursing/education was $450/credit hour. The doctoral tuition is $645/credit hour. Still cheaper than what you pay at a private school each year.
