Desperate Housewives TV Show:

If you have never seen Desperate Housewives then you should consider it at least once. I started watching it right from the start back in October 2004 on ABC. The show found instant stardom as an evening soap opera that combines drama, comedy, mystery, satire, and more. It shot through the ranks of weekly tv shows all the way to the top of the charts. Desperate Housewives takes place on Wisteria Lane and is all about lives of 5 women as seen through the eyes of a dead neighbor. The deceased neighbor narrates portions of the show as the drama unfold in their day to day lives. The cast of the show includes Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo), Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp), Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt, and Eva Longoria (Gabriel Solis). Season One finished strong as the show drew millions of viewers each week who wanted to follow the gossip and lives of these "Desperate Housewives".

What's the draw to this show, well it doesn't hurt that Eva Longoria is constantly shown in bras and panties. Teri Hatcher has a goofy character who is constantly getting herself into strange predicaments and Felicity Huffman struggles with the job versus housewive roles. Marcia Cross is busy being the "perfect" housewive although her first husband was killed by a character named George (the pharmacist) and then Bree stood by while George took and overdose of pills and alcohol to kill himself and now she is married to another psycho. The stories are extreme sometimes in terms of over the top drama or events that most likely would never happen in real life. Nevertheless, much like other soap operas, Desperate Housewives is the type of show you just keep coming back to watch over and over again. I personally watch the show because it can be funny and entertaining with Eva Longoria and her husband going back and forth on infidelity and divorce. The real fun is anticipating what will happen in the next episode and there are "spoilers" listed online that tip you off to new scenarios. Spoilers include a new love interest for Eva Longoria (20 years her senior), Edie has a secret sister, and a new love triangle with Mike (James Denton) and 2 women to be named. It appears that this is the type of show that America lives for every Sunday night. ABC has done an excellent job of luring in the 22 million people each week who watch the show to stick around after the show and watch newcomers like Grey's Anatomy that has skyrocketed to its own popularity and now airs on Thursday evenings with a repeat shown on Friday nights for those that miss the episode. Desperate Housewives has won several awards from the Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe Awards, and Primetime Emmys. Season 4 is just around the corner and who knows what the producers have in store for the characters or viewers. Stay tuned as they say and watch the drama unfold on your TV set.

The Internet has surely revolutionized the way we view and relate to TV shows like Desperate Housewives. Desperate Housewives DVDs:

DVD sets for popular tv shows have become so popular in the recent years and the amount of Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season (2004) that have sold is astonishing so far. Fans have flocked to pick up their DVD packages and watch the episodes all over again. The first season sells for $45 on Amazon.com and includes 6 discs. The 23 episodes contain unrated and extended versions of certain scenes. There are also bloopers that they show on the DVDs from the actual set. The 6-Disc Box Set is the perfect gift for any fan of the show. Once you get through the 23 episodes from the first season, move on to the Desperate Housewives - The Complete Second Season ($43). The 2nd season has 24 episodes on 6-discs and was released in August 2006. This collection includes never before seen footage, added features and behind the scenes with the cast. Many women have found Desperate Housewives to be a great alternative to the popular Sex in the City sitcom that aired on HBO and is now in syndication on TNT and other networks.
