Hot Wheels Cars:

Hot wheels are toy cars that kids use for fun and can be raced on tracks as well. Mattel introduced the Hot Wheels in 1968 and competed directly with Matchbox cars for 3 decades before buying the Matchbox brand in 1996. Hot wheels cars measure only about 6 cm in length and are made of die cast metal (some with plastic). Some of the vintage hot wheels cars are very valuable (see more below) as people bought the cars for more of a collection than to play with them. The Hot wheels Treasure Hunt series in 1995 was a big success and Mattel needed it to keep sales moving. In 2005 the Hot Wheels Classics line was brought to market and collectors bought these up and the track sets that went with them. I remember playing with Hot Wheels as a kid and using the hot wheels tracks to make the cars go. There used to be a battery operated starting house where you would put the hot wheels cars side by side and the rotating/spinning wheels would shoot the cars off the starting gate and down the track to race. The tracks could be assembled in various shapes and designs and easily configured to always keep things new and different. I must have had about 20 cars (although Mattel says the average child owns 41 cars). The Hot Wheels cars have always sold for about a $1 and that is what has made them such hot sellers over the years with very little price increases.

The Hot Wheels products can be viewed online with pictures and descriptions at http://www.hotwheels.com/showcase/. The Hot Wheels Acceleracers are a new line of cars with Acceleracer vehicles, a HyperPod w/ DVD set that allows your Acceleracer to fit into the larger HyperPod, the Acceleracers Swamp Beast Trackset with motorized boosters, electronic timer, crash zones, jumps, diverters, and off-loading ramps for the HyperPod, and lastly buy the AcceleDrome Track Set complete with car launchers, loops, and high speed action. For other Hot Wheels games and toys try Amazon.com. Their most popular selling items are the Disney Pixar cars from the movie, the Essential Accessories Radar Gun ($29.99), Hot Wheels Crazy Croc, Essential Accessories STARTER SET? Track Set ($17.99) - 7 feet of track and 1 Hot Wheels car, the HOT WHEELS ROLL-UP RACEWAY Track Set ($15.99), Hot Wheels Monster Jam Truck Case, Hot Wheels: Roll Patrol 5-Car Gift Pack ($6.99), Hot Wheels Three-wheeled 6-Inch Scooter ($29.99), Hot Wheels Power Slide 16-Inch Trike ($69.99), Hot Wheels Incredible Crash Dummies Dune Buggy, Hot Wheels Classics Customized VW Drag Bus, Hot Wheels Aluminum Folding Scooter with 4-Inch Wheels, Hot Wheels 16-Inch Bike ($69.99). I always enjoyed playing with the Hot Wheels cars on the tracks they sold. The newest tracks are much funner today for kids and offer more twists, turns, and loops. The top rated HOt Wheels tracks on Amazon are the Hot Wheels Turbo Glo Turbo Tunnel Track Set, Hot Wheels: Terror-Dactyl Track Set, Hot Wheels V-Drop Super-Velocity Track Set, and the Hot Wheels Ferrari X-V Stunt Racer Challenge Track Set. A recent addition to the Hot Wheels collection is the Mattel Hot Wheels Monster Jam Air Jumper that has Hot Wheels Monster Trucks going off jumps and smashing things. I never had Hot Wheels bedding for my room, but you can pick up a set on Domesticbin.com in their boys bedding section. You get a Hot Wheels themed items like twin/full sheet sets, comforters, pillowcase, valance, and a car shaped pillow. Back on Amazon you can purchase a nice back to school Hot Wheels backpack for $19.99.

Hot Wheels Collectibles:

Hot Wheels collectors definitely have a passion for the toy cars they collect. Mattel has setup a website that follows the latest happenings in the collectibles of Hot Wheels at Hotwheelscollectors.com. There are articles and news on upcoming collectors conventions, new releases, and memberships available. When we visited the site, the homepage had details on the Hot Wheels Sizzlers from the 1970's and the Redline Hot wheels. The message boards are loaded with trades, collection checklist forums, contests, and general discussion on Hot Wheels cars. You can get Hot Wheels posters, Hot Wheels checks, and Hot Wheels merchandise at Hotwheelsshop.com. They have Ashley Force dragsters, Batman cars, and the famous Ferrar Hot Wheels. Hot Wheels on Ebay are a huge drawing card as 1000's of items are listed daily with tracks, vintage cars, custom Hot Wheels, Hot Wheels cases, the Hot Wheels garage, and all the latest Nascar Hot Wheels. Bid on your favorite item and hopefully win the auction process.

Hot Wheels Website:

Hot Wheels has a fun website with colorful graphics and plenty of online games to choose from. The Hot Wheels Motocourse Rally game lets you control a dirt bike and maneuver it through hills, bumps, water and other obstacles. Other top games include Monster Jam Destruction, Double Shotz Triple Challenge, Micro Madnetics Turbo Tester, Hot Wheels Auto Trek, Hot Wheels Track Builder, Hot Wheels Ferrari Speed Trial and Acceleracers Track Mod. All games are free to play online and don't requie any special software or downloads to work. Just use your arrow keys or spacebar to move the items on screen. Matchbox.com is also owned by Mattel and features Matchbox Toys, Matchbox Collectors, but no online games that we could find.

Hot Wheels Price Guide:

If you are a collector, then knowing the prices of used Hot Wheels is a main concern of yours. When you value your collection or want to sell something on Ebay, having a good ballpark figure for your Hot Wheels is important. We found an excellent site at http://www.hallsguide.com/hotwheels.html that carries pricing information on many of the vintage Hot Wheels cars and accessories The site owner has estimated costs for Cop Rods, Fire Rods, Planet Hot Wheels Cars, Street Rodder Series, Classics, and dozens more. Some of the cars from the 1968 Series are worth more than $300 which makes them a great investment for those that kept them all these years. Another excellent online pricing guide is at http://www.tomart.com/html/hotwheels.html and covers Collector Number packs from 1989 through 1996.
