We have all had kids from the local school district come by our houses asking us to sign up for magazines to help their schools raise money. Are they really offering subscriptions that are worth it? Much of the money raised is based on existing magazine subscriptions that are renewed through their marketing efforts. It can be annoying to have multiple kids stop by, but it is also convenient to be able to renew without doing anything on your end. They take care of the paperwork. What is even easier, though, is going online and using your pc to get magazine subscriptions. All the major magazines like People, Star, Soap Opera Digest, Parenting, Autoweek, Maxim, Time, Newsweek, etc offer online magazine subscription signup. You just need to fill our a short form and the magazines are sent.
Many magazine subscriptions offer the actual magazine for much cheaper than the newsstand price. Often at a 50% discount since they know that you have committed to a long term agreement versus buying just 1 copy at the store every month or so. They would rather have you tied into a subscription where you get the magazine each week than worry if you will buy it weekly on your own. Don't most of us have the National Geographic or Time magazine delivered to our homes each week or month and it almost becomes a part of our routine where we ask "I wonder when the latest issue of Cosmopolitan will arrive".
How much are magazine subscriptions?
Magazine subscriptions tend to run for 12 months or 2 years if you are gutsy enough to that kind of committment. Most magazines like People or Parenting offer the subscription price of $2.25 an issue (versus over $3.50+ at a news stand). One of our favorite magazines is Martha Stewart Living and we were able to signup online for 12 issues at $24 (57% off what we would have paid for individual isses all year). Getting a magazine subscription over the internet is great since you can get the first issue for FREE and see if you like the magazine before you commit to an entire year or more. American Baby Magazine
Vogue Magazine

Discount/Cheap Magazine Subscriptions:
I'm sure we could all use some cheap magazine subscriptions to save a few bucks on our monthly budgets, so I suggest trying some of the online sites that offer discount magazine subscriptions (often for 1 year agreements). Magazine subscriptions are a great gift idea around birthdays or Christmas time. Men love Maxim, Sports Illustrated or Fortune, while women have always enjoyed Cosmopolitan, Glamour, or Cooking Light. We suggest starting at Magazines.com where you can get savings of up to 80% off of magazine subscriptions. Choose from all your favorite magazines for yourself or setup a gift subscription to a friend or family member. We saw Real Simple Magazine offered at a 46% discount and Sports Illustrated was 80% off the cover price with a 1 year subscription. Another excellent site we found for discounted magazine subscriptions was called DiscountMagazines.com. There selection was not as good as Magazines.com but they offer subscriptions for as low as $5.95 a year for magazines like Allure, Bicycling, Coastal Living, Flying and more. Many of the magazines offered are ones you would most likely not buy each month on a regular basis, so they figure have you pay up front for a year subscription and they give you a major discount. Seems fair if you really like the magazine and would buy it every month anyways.
Top Mens Magazines:
Mens magazines have always been associated with seedy pictures and dumb articles, but recently the selection for men has really come full circle. Sure, Playboy and Maxim are still top selling magazines to men, but other have topped the charts as well. Below is a list of the most popular mens magazine subscriptions:
Maxim Magazine
Autoweek Magazine
Newsweek Magazine
Car & Driver Magazine
GQ Magazine
Playboy Magazine
