Metallica Band, History, News, Musicians:Metallica has been around since the early 80's and over time they have burned a mark into music history. The original line up included musicians James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Lars Ulrich, and Cliff Burton. Dave Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica for being a drunk, imagine that. Kirk Hammett joined Metallica on guitar shortly after Mustaine was released and the band would never look back. Cliff Burton died in a bus accident while on tour in Europe in the mid eighties and it was a major loss for metal music. Metallica took the loss hard, but they bounced back stronger than ever and Jason Newsted became their new bass player and young gun. In 1989 Metallica released "And Justice For All" which would be the album that created their first video. "One" was released to MTV in 1989 and after that day Metallica became a household name and supergroup, especially in the hard rock/metal world. Fans of all ages started to pay attention to the bands music and videos while trying to catch them on tour. In 1992 Metallica released "The Black Album" and became the 2nd biggest band in the world, after Guns N Roses of course. They toured with GNR while selling millions of records and helped bring metal music to a worldwide audience. Jason Newsted left Metallica eventually due to personal reasons, but the band picked up Robert Trujillo and still kick metal ass. Metallica released a couple of albums in the 90's to decent reviews and toured non stop to support the albums. It will be hard for Metallica to ever have the success they tasted in 1991, but they still write and record albums and seem destined to be a band that never dies.
