Nirvana Band History:Kurt Cobain has gone down as a legend in the music business and for good reason. Nirvana formed in 1986 in Seattle Washington, which also gave us (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Mother Love Bone) and took only a few years as a band before they conquered the world. In 1989 Nirvana recorded their 1st album Bleach for Sub-Pop (a local indie label). Nirvana started out playing small clubs around town and before they knew it they were signed to Geffen and were all over MTV and alternative radio stations. Kurt Cobain never really seemed prepared for the power of the press and the way it would ruin his life. Ultimately, all the attention and glory around Nirvana would cost him his life and future. Nirvana did well in 1992 as their 1st MTV single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" took over MTV and the teenage culture of America. Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic also known as Nirvana, would go on to become one of the biggest and most influential bands in history. During the early part of their career they toured heavily in Europe and America which only pushed their album sales even higher. Nirvana has sold over 20 million albums worldwide to date and they continue to sell records even though Kurt Cobain has been dead for over 10 years.
