The Simpsons:

The Simpsons have turned into America's cartoon family on the Fox Network. The show debuted on December 17, 1989 and has lasted well into it's 18th season (nearly 400 episodes). I watched the show from the start and then lost interest after about the 5th season, but the show has bee resilient and stayed near the top weekly shows for almost 2 decades now. The Simpsons family consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Maggie, and Lisa and they live in Springfield (a fictional town). The tv show has earned several awards and the Simpsons is the longest running American Sitcom and animated program of all-time. The Simpsons centers on a middle American family with many of the same issues we all have. Bart Simpson is the "brat" of the bunch and his father (Homer) works at the local nuclear power plant as a safety inspector and his famous line is always "D'oh". Other popular characters on the show include Krusty the Clown, Moe, Chief Wiggum, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Dr. Hibbert, Principal Skinner, and Harry Shearer.

The Simpsons cartoon series is definitely a fun show to watch with plenty of funny moments between Bart and Homer. With references to current events in the world or news, the tv show has always done a good job of relating cartoon characters to the real world we live in.
