Ticket Brokers:

Ticket brokers are in the business of buying and selling tickets at a premium for all national and local concerts, sporting events, opera, theater, and symphony. If you want to find tickets to any entertainment event at the last minute, you may have to use a ticket broker if the event is sold-out. Ticket brokers are in the service industry and provide consumers with items like front row concert tickets or courtside seats to your favorite basketball team. The general tone we found amongst consumers is that ticket brokers are just glorified scalpers that rip-off people with overpriced tickets. On the other side of things, ticket brokers claim they are only providing a service and that ultimately the consumer dictates the price of the tickets through good old fashioned supply and demand. I would say they are both right although we have heard of ticket brokers that operate shady businesses by buying blocks of seats to potential concert and sporting event sell-outs which esssentially leave the consumer without a chance at tickets. The consumer eventually pays more than face value for the tickets and gets upset. The real question is, are there fair practice ticket brokers and which ones should you work with?

Ebay has long been a service that helps ticket brokers unload or buy tickets to all sorts of events. Ebay also saw the value in Stubhub.com and recently purchased that site for over $300 million. StubHub was one of the first and most recognized sites where fans were able to buy or sell tickets to sporting events, music concerts, NASCAR races, hockey games, broadway shows, and much more. Do you feel more comfortable buying tickets from a person or from a ticket broker? It appears that most of us would rather support individual ticket sellers versus larger ticket brokers where we feel like we are being taken for more money. We did some research online for tickets to popular shows like those of Justin Timberlake, Celine Dion, and sporting events like the NFL playoffs or NBA basketball games. The results concluded that whether you go online to Ebay or through a ticket broker you are going to pay roughly the same price. The equation of supply and demand wins out almost inevitably. The only way to get cheap tickets to any event is to wait until showtime and hope that a broker will cave in and sell the tickets at face value or even less. Scalpers are notorious around concert events and sport shows for offering reduced ticket prices right as the game starts. They are forced to either sell the tickets at a loss and at least get something for them or else "eat" the entire price of the ticket. Most of us can't wait until game time to buy our tickets, so we are forced to give in and pay the premium for desireable seats. Start with word of mouth through your friends who may have used a ticket broker to find a reliable one. If that doesn't work, check on Ebay for tickets to at least see what the going rate is before you commit to paying twice as much through a broker. We have listed some reputable ticket broker websites in the next section.

Top Ticket Broker Websites:

Before you commit to any ticket broker website, go to Ticketmaster.com or a similar ticket service and see what availability is left for the event you want to go to. Make sure there are no tickets for the show and then start searching online for tickets. We have tried to list reputable ticket brokers and websites that have received quality reviews with the Wall Street Journal and other respected sources. By no means is the list below the only sites that sell tickets, but they have proven to offer the best selection at the best prices. As always, try consumer sites like Ebay to see what tickets are selling for so you have some bargaining power when talking with a ticketing agency.
  • StubHub.com - Fan Friendly site for buying/selling premium seats
  • Ticketliquidator.com - great place to find Las Vegas show tickets to Celine Dion, Elton John, Barry Manilow and more
  • Tickco.com - 800# you can call, NFL Playoff tickets, theater tickets, concert tickets
  • Coasttocoasttickets.com - Secure transactions, Toll free phone #, and events listed by city
  • Barrystickets.com - carries tickets in major cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, also gives "Live Chat Support"

Concert Ticket Brokers:

If you want to cut to the chase and find the best front row seats and tickets online, we say go to Frontrowtickets.com. Although you will pay a premium for the seats, they carry an excellent inventory for all the top events. Get the best seats to Josh Groban, George Strait, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Cheetah Girls. In sports, get access to courtside seats at NBA Games, playoff tickets in the NFL, or prime seats at NHL and NASCAR events. Greattickets.com is another site dedicated to selling premium and sold out tickets to events in the United States. They are a member of the Better Business Bureau and The National Association of Ticket Brokers. They broker tickets and sell them based on current market price (above face value). You can order online or through their 800#, whichever is more comfortable for you. Following all these online ticket brokers, we have seen a change over the last few years as they have become more customer service focused and realize that trust is a big word in their industry. They want repeat business and will work hard to get it.
