What are the best "people finding services" online?:
Are you looking for a long lost friend or an old classmate you haven't spoken to in years. Well if you are not having any luck, give one of the people finding services a try. Many offer email address or phone #'s on similar names that you search and there are even more in depth people locator companies on the web that charge $$ for their detective work. Peoplefinder.com is a well known site that offers people searches by name, address, or phone numbers. Their database is the same database used by the government and law enforcement agencies across America. If you type in a name (i.e. John Doe), you get a list of that persons name with possible relatives that you might be able to contact as well. When you click "view details", a list of "pay services" comes up for that search. You can pay a one time fee of $9.95 to get addresses, phone #'s and even email addresses for that particular person. Switchboard.com also offers a similar people search function and it's $7.95 for the report instead of $9.95 from Peoplefinder.com. All the services that help you find people cost $$, but it's worth the price if you save time and can find that person you've always wanted to get in contact with.
Yahoo People Search?:
Yahoo offers one of the best online people searches. Just type in a name (first and last) and find friends, colleagues, classmates, and more. Their advanced search features for emails or address are comprehensive enough that if you know some information about the person you are trying to find, you can probably get the rest online. There is a large email database they pull from so that you can try to match a name to an email address (that can be hard since people make up silly email addresses and don't always use an obvious one like johndoe@yahoo.com). As with all the other people find services, Yahoo's is free only to a point and then you are hit up for $$ to get the last important details like phone #'s. Give it a try and see if you can find your long lost friends.
Google It!:
An obvious, but recent innovation by Google is that you just type in a persons name on Google and it will bring up any relevant web sites/pages related to that person. You'd be surprised how many people have "googled" their own name to see what shows up in the search results. I would recommend doing it on your own name just to see how it works and what websites you are associated with (if any) your name.
