Email is the #1 function that people use the Internet for. It's also free, which makes it even better. There are plenty of sites to choose from for online email. Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, MSN, AOL, etc. Signup for an email account and get your email address. You can check your email by going to their login page and signing in. Send and receive emails for free and communicate with people around the world. No more letters to write or stamps to buy. Email truly is one of the greatest features of the internet.
Yahoo Email?:
Yahoo email offers some great features, all for free. You get powerful protection against spam, virus scanning and cleaning, 1 GB of email storage (soon to be 2 GB or more since Google has raised the level of storage), message sizes up to 10 MB, and you can login to your account anywhere there is web access. It's very convenient and easy to use. With their storage capacity you rarely have to delete any messages. Yahoo also offers a premium email service called Yahoo! Mail Plus which costs $19.99/year but offers 2 GB of storage space, SpamGuard Plus to help stop unwanted email, and there are no promotional ads to look at.
Hotmail Email?:
Hotmail came around at the right time. While AOL was essentially charging $20/month just for email service, they stepped in and gave it away for free. Millions of users signed up and it became a huge success since they were bought by Microsoft for close to $400 million (for a free email service). That shows how valuable email is since everyone checks their email accounts almost daily giving email service providers the opportunity to show ads to them everyday. Hotmail only gives 250 MB of storage space (much less than the other guys).
Google GMAIL?:
Gmail is a free, search-based webmail service that gives you more than 2.5 gigabytes of storage. Gmail is a powerful Google search engine that quickly finds any message an account owner has ever sent or received. That means there's no need to file messages in order to find them again. When Gmail displays an email, it automatically shows all the replies to that email as well, so users can view a message in the context of a conversation. There are no pop-ups or untargeted banner ads in Gmail, which places relevant text ads and links to related web pages adjacent to email messages. The one good thing about Gmail is that other email services have had to compete with storage space and other features they offer so we all win in the long run even if we aren't using Gmail.
