Casio Watch Reviews and Buying Guide:

Casio is a top consumer electronics company that produces many products, but we want to focus on their timepieces or watches. Casio watches may not be as flashy as designer watches from Tag Heuer or Gucci, but they are durable, work fine, and are stylish in other fields besides fashion. The current collection of Casio watches includes their Baby-G series, Classic Casio watches, Databank, Dress, G-Shock, Pathfinder, Sports, and Waveceptor. Casio makes watches for formal occasions, sporting and outdoor lifestyles, and calculator and scheduling watches for the efficient business minded individual. The new G Shock and Baby-G watch series from Casio proove that they are willing to be innovative with designs and create stylish timepieces for the younger generation that otherwise may not be wearing a watch.

When deciding on what type of style of watch to buy consider the activities (or non-activities) you will be doing while wearing the watch. If you are a diver or swimmer, you will need a water resistant watch that can go down to 200 meters or more. If you are an avid outdoorsman who likes to play rough on mountain bikes or hike among rocks consider buying a shockproof watch that is durable (Casio has the G-Shock watches listed below). Other features to consider are watches that are scratch resistant, quartz or automatic movement, strap materials (leather, synthetics, animal skins), and warranties. You can go online to the Casio website to view their latest selection of watches and timepieces at http://www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/. Below we have tried to find the best Casio watches in each of their series. In each case we researched the various types online and read customer reviews to come up with a quick "best of" list that should help you make an informed decision. RECOMMENDED - We suggest going to Amazon.com, they carry an extensive inventory of Casio watches and have some of the best prices online. You can view the top selling Casio mens and womens watches here.

Casio G Shock Watch:

The G Shock watches from Casio are tough, feature atomic timekeeping and solar technology. They are meant for active people and are shock resistant which means you can bump the watch with no worries of it breaking. The G Shock Casio watches are made for men and the Baby G watches are for girls/women. The Casio G Shock ($160) is a black, atomic solar watch with a metal band that is water resistant to 200 meters, has a full auto EL backlight with afterglow, world time (30 cities), 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, power saving function, auto calendar, 12/24 hour formats, and 1/100 second stopwatch. Another slightly less expensive G Shock model is DW6900-1V ($80) - comes with a resin band, countdown timer, electro-luminescent backlight with afterglow, and auto repeat function. For a more feminine style, young ladies can check out the Baby-G watches from Casio. With close to 2 dozens styles and designs to choose from - the best sellers are the Baby-G Jelly BG1001 Watch Series ($80) that feature tanning timers, resin band, digital dial code, world time, and they are shock resistant much like their counterpart the G-Shock watches.

Pathfinder Watch:

The Pathfinder watches from Casio are a thing to marvel at. Meant for the "true outdoorsman" the Casio Pathfinder watches features things like digital compass, barometer, altimeter, thermometer, and other tools. If you are a diver, consider the Casio Sea Pathfinder Diver Watch with a depth gauge, diving log, thermometer, titanium band, 200 meter water resistant, dive timer, dive memory, dive profile, and a low battery warning signal. RECOMMENDED- Check out all the Casio Pathfinder watches at Amazon here. I have several friends who have bought the Pathfinder watches and are very happy with the performance. They are not the easiest on watches and yet the Casio watch still functions the same as the day they bought it. For around $200 you can own a classic Casio watch that is loaded with all the modern technology and features.

Atomic Watch:

The Waveceptor Casio watches run on atomic time and keep you on schedule. The Waveceptor FTW100D-7V ($100) is a silver watch with a silver dial code and metal band. It keeps world time in 29 time zones and in 30 cities. You get 4 daily alarms and 1 snooze alarm, hourly time signal, auto calendar, battery power indicator, 100 meter water resistance, and auto elecro-luminescent backlight with afterglow. This is a great watch that provides both function and style.

Calculator Watch:

I remember back when I was in junior high (1982) when I first saw a calculator watch. We thought it was amazing that you could do math right on your wrist. Turns out we were just geeks and didn't know any better although Casio still makes the Databank watch series which includes calculator watches. The Databank CA53W-1 ($25) is an 8 digit calculator that comes with a resin band. Keeps dual time, is water resistant, has a measuring mode with a stopwatch, and daily alarm. Although the watch is not sophisticated enough for an adult, it probably would still make a great gift for grammar school aged child.

Watch Battery:

As is the case with many watches, those on batteries will eventually need to have them replaced. Going online is probably your fastest and quickest way to find the appropriate battery for you particular watch. We suggest online watch battery stores like Lowcostbatteries.com or Casiosalesandservice.com/.
