Burberry is a luxury clothing manufacturer in the United Kingdom and they produce handbags, wallets, colognes, hats, coats, perfumes, watches, scarves, sunglasses, jackets, ties, umbrellas, and much more. The trademark Burberry check pattern is recognized worldwide as Burberry stores and outlets are popping up all over. The best selling products from Burberry are the handbags/purses and the exclusive fragrances they offer for both men and women. Burberry was founded in 1856, but the "Burberry check" wasn't used until 1924 in a trenchcoat lining. From the 1960's on, the red, white, black, and peach check (called the Nova) starting appearing on Burberry luggage, scarves, and umbrellas. Burberry is in a suddenly competitive designer marketplace with top brands like Prada, Gucci, Dooney & Burke, Chanel, and Coach. All designers continue refusing to compete on price which makes their products not only stay very expensive but makes the replica and knockoff markets for purses and handbags that much bigger.

Burberry has started several outlet stores in America that claim to offer discount clothing and apparel. In a recent article we read about "Outlet Shopping", it appears that many of the items you find in the outlet stores are not really bargains after all. Many of the items you find are "irregular" cuts or have other defects which makes them useless to the manufacturer unless someone wants to buy them. Burberry stores are available in a little over 10 states at this point but Nordstroms and Saks are resellers of Burberry products so you can probably locate their apparel in every state. Burberry Blue Label is a Japanese brand of Burberry apparel that is supposedly meant for younger women with brighter and more colorful designs. Burberry Handbags:
The best selling apparel of any designer these days are handbags and it appears no different with Burberry. Their latest bags include the Check Satchel ($890), the Denim Tote ($475), the Check Shoulder Bag ($1295), Small Sling ($225), Denim Cinda Bag ($825), Check Tote ($630), Packable Tote ($295), Nova Check Hobo ($765), The Manor Bag ($1680), Haymarket Duffle ($795), and the Denim Handbag ($810). The most expenisve of the bunch is the Manor Bag at close to $1700 - has quilted leather, double handles, and polished brass hardware. It comes in a burgundy color and looks different than almost the other Burberry bags and purses we saw online. The Check Satchel for about $900 is what we have come to expect in terms of styling and design from Burberry. The satchel bag has a zip top closure, key hole zipper pull, and easy to hold handles. If price is a concern, then go with the cheapest model, the Small Sling. At under $250, the sling bag comes in the bias nova check with black leather trim and brass hardware. Great bag for evenings out on the town with enough space for the essentials, but not bulky to weight you down. One a lighter note, the Burberry Pink Check Baby Bag ($500) is the perfect diaper bag for women who need to remain fasionable even with a little infant on their arm. It always amazes us how designers will make money even on something such as a bag to carry diaper supplies (not the most elegant use for a bag).
Burberry Scarf/Hat/Umbrellas:
The British know cold and wet weather since their island nation gets plenty of dreary weather year round. It's no surprise that Burberry makes top rated hats, gloves, scarves, and umbrellas to deal with the nasty conditions. There is a little sticker shock when you see the prices of some of the scarves, but the Giant Check Scarf ($265) is simply gorgeous. Made in England with cashmere, this giant scarf (66" x 12") is dry clean only. Perhaps the ultimate in scarves is the Signature Scarf ($310) which is a two-tone cashmere Burberry Signature Jacquard scarf that is 13 inches by 66 inches. The hats are cute and stylish, although the $115 baseball hat from Burberry might be stretching things too far. We read that they were thinking about discontinuing the hat since it had received just aweful reviews. The Quilted Check Hat ($225) is a personal favorite with satin lining. What other designer makes umbrellas? Not many that we could find. The Check Umbrella sells for $225 so you better live in a rainy climate to get your moneys worth on this one. Perfume/Cologne:
Burberry Brit is a top selling perfume and cologne that you can find online at Amazon. The Burberry Brit For Men 1.7 oz Eau de Toilette sells for $47 at Sephora with reviews from men being either "very positive" or "extremely negative". The womens fragrance is available for about $35 (1.7 oz). The other very popular fragrance is the Burberry London line which retails for $75 (3.3 fl. oz). They offer Burberry London perfume, body cream, lotion, and body wash. The aftershave and shower gel offered for men gets positive feedback, but the Burberry Touch Deodorant does not favor so well in consumer reviews.
Other Accessories:
When you visit a website like Burberry.com you soon realize that they could probably put their patented "check pattern" on any item and sell it for a premium. Watches are $1500, belts are over $300, sunglasses are over $200, and of course the footwear regularly sells for $150-$300 for womens shoes.
