What Is Sportswear?What is sport's wear and where can I find it? Do I really need special clothing for working out and exercising? Well, sportswear includes a lot of different items like running, walking and trail shoes, yoga pants, casual active clothing, jackets, and bra's, under garments and more. If you're looking for a good walking shoe or sports bra or a trail running shoe and you're not sure where you can get them or what will be the best for you, you'll need the right information. When you are looking for the proper shoes and clothing, you are looking for “sportswear” that will help give you optimum performance, comfort, flexibility and durability.
Where Can I buy a Good Running & Walking Shoe?If you are going to be running, jogging, hiking, or walking, having the proper foot support, in the form of good shoes, is critical. Heavy exercise puts a lot of stress on your joints, muscles, and tendons, and good shoes act as shock absorbers, not only for your feet, but for your whole body. I've always like Nike's running and walking tennis shoes. One that I recently checked out is the Nike Shox Aprisa. It is an ultra lightweight walking shoe that gives your feet the proper cushioning for comfortable absorption and stability so you can still keep your stride light and your feet flexible. This shoe is $100 and worth it if you are trying to take the weight out of pounding the pavement. Another shoe I liked was the Grid Labyrinth by Saucony. This shoe is a great trail running shoe and it's tough and gives you the stability and traction to run on uneven trails. While the shoe takes a beating on the trail, your feet do not thanks to its Ionic Grid Cushioning and a great snug fit.This shoe costs about $85. Not only can you buy these online, but you can also find lot's of other Sportswear Shoes like New Balance, Titanium, or Adidas at finishline.com, columbia.com and Nordstrom's. As you're trying on shoes, remember these tips regarding correct fit: Pay attention to the details of how the shoe fits. For instance, if the heel does not fit correctly, you should try lacing yours shoes to form a “lace lock” at the top of the shoe. You can learn more about proper lacing at walking.about.com, as this process will allow your shoe to tie tightly at the top without narrowing the fit for the rest of the shoe. Try to lace up from the bottom of the next to last eyelet, then over and down through the top eyelet. Do the same for the other side. Now lace through the opposite "bunny ear" you formed between those two eyelets. Now when you tie your shoe, you can get a good tight fit at the ankle but keep it loose over the rest of the top of the foot. Talk to a sales rep if your shoe fits in the heel, but feel's too tight in the front of the shoe, shoe rubs on the side of your feet, feels funny or hurts when you walk or just doesn't feel right. Try running around the store before you buy a shoe to make sure it feels and fits well and try to wear socks that are appropriate for the shoe you are buying. Where can I find the best Sports Bra and how should it fit?Sports bras come in all different shapes and sizes, just like you. The qualities you should look for in a good sports bra are a good firm fit to stop any jiggling, but not one that is so tight it hurts your ribs or under your arms and back. You need one that is comfortable, breathable, and fits your body type. Cooper's ligaments are what support your breasts and without a proper sports bra, running and vigorous exercise break down those ligaments and cause damage to the breast tissue, which means those dreaded words, SAGGY BREASTS. So, you may need several different types of sports bras, depending upon the type of exercise you do. For instance, Champion Sports bra's (I personally have one of these) have a variety of bras for intense sports, moderate or recreational activities. Some have underwire for more support, tank top, t-back, seamless, comfort straps, gel straps, stay dry materials, and stay cool materials, front close, back close, contour, full support and full figure. The bra's range in price from about $20.00 to $45.00. Whatever brand you choose, Champion, Patagonia, New Balance, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Danskin, or UnderArmor, etc., keep in mind you're looking for a bra that fits your body correctly, know the activity you are going to do that requires this particular bra and get measured to help assure proper fit and comfortableness. You can find these online by typing in the type of bra or brand name you are looking for so that you may locate a store near you.Sportswear Clothing I like!There are all different types of sportswear and whether you are intensely active or moderately active, the clothing you wear is just as important as the shoes and the bra! If you are a runner, maybe you will be looking for light fitted shorts like the Adidas Adistar running shorts for about $45.00 or perhaps a heat gear short sleeve shirt from Under Armor for about $30.00. Perhaps you'll need a jacket that is light and good for running or walking outdoors, try the Brooks Running Jacket for about $85.00 from G.I. Joes. If you prefer to run or walk at night, the Brooks Reflective Jacket is also at www.gijoes.com for the price of around $79.00. Perhaps where you live it is cold and yet you still want to go outside, you may like the 180's Earmuffs for $20.00 or the Sport Gloves that come in insulated for $20.00 as well which you can buy from www.landsend.com. Land's End also carries fleece sweatshirts, pants, socks, scarves and other items and they carry more conservative clothing that is stylish and functional for your outdoor active life. On the lighter side of sportswear, you can find Sweatshirts with Hoodies, yoga pants, and tank tops with bra shelves at Victoria's Secret. I found some great yoga pants at www.victoriassecret.com. They come in fleece for warmth, cropped, fold over top (to help make the waist and hips look more proportionately correct), and of course the classic yoga pant. The Victoria's Secret yoga pant costs anywhere from $19.99 to about $35.00. I would also check out the other active or lounge wear from Victoria's Secret, they fit well, look good and are comfortable.
