If you want to apply for a credit card online, you won't have a problem finding a site that will do it. Credit card debt is at all-time highs in America and credit card issuers are loving it. Credit Card offers come in the mail everyday promising 0% APR rates (teaser rates they are called). The credit card companies want you to transfer your debt to them at a lower interest rate. There are credit card deals online at almost all the major credit card sites like Chase Credit Card (Chase.com). You apply online for the Chase Credit Card and get a response so quickly you'll be using your card the same day to charge things. Even people with bad credit can get credit cards these days (you just end up paying a higher APR). American Express has a good website that will explain their various cards and what the corresponding APR will be. Citibank.com also supplies the customer with some good credit card service once you fill our their online application.
Where can I get a business credit card?:
For years American Express was the only credit card that businesses used. The AMEX business card is still very popular but it does carry a yearly fee (some competitors don't charge this). AMEX also is not accepted everywhere, so most business travelers end up having to get another credit card anyways from say SouthWest Airlines (the mileage cards with airlines have been a huge success). Capital One has recently started going after business customers along with Wells Fargo. Business Credit Cards are a huge source of revenue for the major credit card companies with all the travel and entertaining that a business person does each month. AMEX has dominated the travel space for years because for a long time many places only took AMEX (not VISA/MC). Things have changed and now it's much more competitive.
What is the Best Credit Card?:
Personal need will determine what is the best credit card for you. If you charge a lot each month, a mileage card or a cash back card from Discover may be your best bet. AMEX has some pretty good programs built into their line of credit cards to retain customers as well. Ultimately, you need a card with no spending limits, has no annual fee, and gives you either mileage or cashback at the end of the year. Most APR's are negotiable, so once you get the card, call the credit card company and see if you can get the APR reduced to a more reasonable rate. I prefer the Southwest Airlines Credit card with their free flight program (they seem to be the only stable airline these days with positive revenue). The GM card gives you 5% towards a GM car in the future and that is a pretty good incentive as well.
0% APR Cards:
We've all had the offer in the mail, 0% APR credit card. You open it up and you find out it lasts a month or so (well maybe not that short). Anyways, it's all a gimmick. They can't give you 0% APR or else they go out of business, but they can give you the teaser rate for a limited time to get you transferring debt. Again, most credit card companies will negotiate on the interest rate, so don't be afraid to call them and see if you can get your 15% APR reduced. More often than not it goes through.
