Reviews of the Best Wrinkles Creams:

Anti-aging seems to be a fairly heated topic these days with the American public. Most people agree that looking younger makes them feel younger than they really are, but can you really dodge "father time" and look young forever. Wrinkle creams have been on the market for years and there is always controversy over which ones actually work and which ones are downright scams. We did some online research and compared and reviewed the best wrinkle cream skin care products to find out just which ones consumers like and why. Of course we also will include the "duds" of the group which don't seem to have any proven anti-aging reduction at all. Everyone ages differently and some of us are lucky enough not to have too many wrinkles around our eyes, foreheads, lips, faces, necks, or hands. Our society has come to see wrinkles as a direct sign of aging and now we see them as being bad. You really can't avoid wrinkles (we will discuss the cause of them below), but you can ultimately limit the amount of wrinkles you get by eating right, not smoking, limit your alcohol drinking, and getting plenty of rest. Some say wearing sunglasses will help keep eye wrinkles and forehead wrinkles to a minimum as well. Beyond that, you may need anti wrinkle creams to keep you looking young.

The skin care market is loaded with wrinkle reducers, anti wrinkle creams, wrinkle cures, wrinkle removers, wrinkle fillers, and many more products that claim you will be wrinkle free. We compared wrinkle creams found on 3 of the leading sites that sell anti wrinkle skin care products and came up with the best wrinkle creams per customer ratings, price, and expert opinions from laboratory use. RECOMMENDED - StriVectin-SD was a clear winner and is made by Klein-Becker. StriVectin-SD was originally created to help heal stretch marks but users say they see a remarkable reduction in the appearance of wrinkles around the face and eyes. You get a 6 ounce tube which should last about 6 months when used for wrinkles - cost is $135. AlphaDerma CE (by Janson Beckett) is another favorite and top rated skin care and wrinkle remover. It eliminates fine lines and wrinkles with its patented "anti-aging wrinkle cure concentrate". Works great on the face, neck and body to reverse fine lines and tighten up skin. AlphaDerma CE sells for $129.95 for a 4 oz bottle. Freeze 24/7 Anti-Wrinkle Cream ($90 for 1 oz) can be applied under moisturizer, and works on the forehead, lip area, eye area, cheeks, crow's feet and stretch marks on the body. It ranked high with a 50-90% reduction in fine lines and wrinkles in almost all users within 10 minutes. It's expensive, but customers appeared to see immediate results after just 1 application. Athena 7 Minute Lift ($89) gets high ratings and in clinical studies the average reduction in lines and wrinkles was "over 80%" based on a full face evaluation. Rejuvinol and Rejuvox are 2 skin care products sold by DermaLogics that seem to work better together than seperately. They are nutrient rich moisturizers that are meant to rehydrate the skin. Other top selling wrinkle creams are Clinique Repairwear Intensive Eye Cream 15ml/0.5oz ($38.50), Estee Lauder Future Perfect Anti-Wrinkle Radiance Cream SPF 15 ($45), Shiseido Benefiance Concentrated Neck Contour Treatment 50ml/1.8oz ($48), Lancome Renergie Cream ($58), and Chanel Precision Ultra Correction Restructuring Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream ($65). What we found was that many of the name brands for womens makeup products got no better reviews than the smaller makers of facial creams and anti-wrinkle products. You can buy many of these products online at Amazon.com, including the Athena 7 Minute Lift - Anti Wrinkle Cream. As a word of caution, some wrinkle cream products get bad reputations for zero customer service and unsatisfactory records with the Better Business Bureau. Buyer beware of creams like Deception Wrinkle Cream or Hydroderm Wrinkle Cream. You can browse all the most popular anti-wrinkle creams on Amazon here.

What causes Wrinkles:

There are lots of things you can do to natural eliminate wrinkles on your skin, but it will be hard to keep them away forever. Some people have a genetic predisposition to severe wrinkling and they are the ones that will have a hard time controlling the amount and extent of wrinkling on their bodies no matter what they do. On the other hand, it's common knowledge that sun exposure promotes skin wrinkling and will only make it worse if you continue to go into the sun unprotected. Smoking also can affect the skin in a negative way. The natural aging process calls for the dermis (part of your skin) to thin and the underlying layers loosen and the skins elasticity diminishes over time. The result is wrinkle lines and skin sagging. Frown lines and 'crows feet' appear because over time the small muscle contractions have changed the way the skin looks. Rapid weight loss can cause wrinkles. Air pollution such as ozone may cause problems for the skin. The best way to reduce wrinkles in the skin is to stay out of the sun, wear sunglasses to protect the area around your eys, and eat a healthy diet.

Botox Injections for Wrinkles:

Thanks to technology and science, there is a new found way to reduce wrinkles, but certainly not without potential side effects. Injections of botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX) are very popular for people looking to reduce wrinkles in the forehead and face areas. They are a non-surgical cosmetic approach for treating "crows feet", frown lines, furrow on the forehad. The injections last from 3 to 6 months and are relatively pain free. BOTOX injections require no recovery time and remain fairly cheap. The doctor injects the dose with a fine needle so there is no need for anesthesia. Not everyone is the ideal candidate for BOTOX - many factors will determine is the procedure will benefit you like skin type, amount of wrinkling, and skin thickness. We have seen many stories on 20/20 or Primetime about BOTOX gone bad (one case was paralization), but the majority of BOTOX patients come out of the procedure just fine. There are some reported cases where the muscles don't function properly after being injected (eventhough it is supposed to be just temporary). Talk with your skin doctor about the pros and cons of BOTOX and determine if it's right for you.

Other Wrinkle Treatments - Chemical Peel - Collagen Injections - Dermabrasion - Laser Resurfacing:

Chemical peels have been used for decades to help fight off wrinkles, but over the last few years science and the art of performing a chemical peel have changed. Chemical peels are broken into 3 types - superficial, medium and deep peels. You will be under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation for the peel and it normally takes about 1/2 hour to an hour. The immediate recovery requires 1 to 2 days of applying moisturizing creams, antibiotic ointments, and gentle facial washes. After 4 to 12 weeks, the skin should be back to normal coloring and texture. Some peels can last indefinitely while others are good for a few years. Complications to chemical peels tend to be minor but there are cases of severe burning. Chemical peels work best for people with fine wrinkles around their eyes, mouth, and cheeks. Collagen injections are great for treating acne scars on the face and reducing wrinkles on the lips, cheeks, and forehead. Dermabrasion is used for improving scars and fine wrinkles. An instrument "sands" the outer layer of skin and removes damaged tissue from acne scarring. Laser resurfacing works best on fine wrinkles near the eyes and mouth. One warning we read on all sites was "If you have used Accutane with the past 12 to 18 months" you can be at risk of scarring in many of these procedures. Be sure to consult with your doctor before choosing any of these wrinkle treatments as one may be more effective on your skin type than others.
