Bar Stools Reviews:Bar stools are an interesting mix of casual and elegant decor. They offer a sophisticated look to a kitchen counter, outdoor patio table, or billiards room, while offering a comfortable, casual place to sit back and relax. Bar stools come in a variety of sizes, designs, and styles. As the kitchen becomes the main focal point in new homes and those remodeling their current kitchen spaces, bar stools can make for a nice addition. With added island space and countertop areas, kitchens need extra seating that isn't designated to be at the kitchen table. That is where bar stools come in handy. They can be hidden and out of view when not being used - slide them under the island countertop. Go with backless bar stools or those with backs. What about adjustable height stools? Swivel bar stools? You can get just about anything these days to match your home decor and make your kitchen or game room more inviting.
Choosing Bar Stools - . When shopping for bar stools, keep in mind that the standard height is about 30 inches - this is taller than a normal chair. Table height (or "counter") barstools are 24 inches tall - make sure you know the height you will need for your stools to reach the counter, table, or bar that they will be placed next to. There are a few main types of bar stools, based on design and materials. Wood bar stools often come with an upholstered or leather seat cushion. Metal bar stools are commonly made of wrought iron, steel, or aluminum and can range from $75 to $400. Cheap or low-cost bar stools can be had for $50 or less, but you usually get what you pay for - expect to pay at least $100 per stool, and up to $400 if you are looking for something fancier. When deciding how many stools you will need, plan on 26-30 inches between the stools, and about 14 inches from the wall or edge of the bar. They are often sold in sets of 2, 3 or 4. We have found many customers that order 2 and find that they like them so much they order a second pair. Put them in your game room - perfect for those sitting around a billiards table that want to be up high enough to see the game. How about those with outdoor furniture? Bar stools go great with many of the patio furniture sets in stores. If you do plan on taking your bar stools outdoors, make sure you get materials that last in the elements. Wicker is best for outdoor uses. Indoor bar stools can be made with almost any material and will do just fine. We like the Boraam 48829 Augusta Swivel Stool at about $100. Available in black, cherry, or cappuccino colors and offered in 24 or 29 inch sizes, the chairs are solid hardwood design with a 360 degree swivel. We prefer stools with a higher back (back support is key), so the Monarch Specialties Leather-Look 2-Piece Pub Chair is the perfect blend of elegant and functional at $100/each. Winsome offers up basic bar stools in sets of 2 for roughly $50. They are considered counter stools and great for getting the party closer to the chef if you are stuck in the kitchen cooking.
