Trash Can / Garbage Can Reviews and Buying Guide:

We have all had to take out the trash at some point in our lives and boy it can be a messy job. One of the most important things to remember when it comes to buying the right trash can is to find the correct trash can for the situation. They make commercial trash cans, kitchen trash cans, bathroom garbage cans, outdoor trash cans, high end trash cans, and even stainless steel trash cans. You can typically find a decent garbage can for about $15 (depending on size and design) although some people spend upwards of $100 because they want the stainless steel version or some other custom design. I've never spent more than $20 for a trash can and usually I'll pay under $10 if I'm just looking for a small bathroom or kitchen garbage can. You can choose the color, size, design, and even brand of garbage can you want, but the most important thing to consider is functionality and convenience. If you are just buying a garbage can for a spare bedroom or bathroom then you can afford to be picky and buy for looks, on the other hand if you are in the market for a kitchen trash can then you need to consider odor, size, and overall convenience. After you find the right garbage can you are going to need some trash can liners and possibly a trash can cart (mostly used for moving outdoor trash cans on trash day). We reviewed some of the top trash cans we found on the internet and hopefully our research will help you save a little time.

Best Kitchen Trash Cans:

The kitchen trash can might be the most important garbage can in the house because it's used a lot, not to mention it can build up quite a smell after a day or two (if it's not emptied often enough). Some of the popular trash cans made for the kitchen are manufactured by Simplehuman, Polder, Blomus, Oxo, and Whirlpool. A great mid priced kitchen trash can is the 10 gallon version made by Oxo. We found this product for sale at Sears.com for $119.00 and it had numerous positive customer reviews. The " OXO 10 gal. Steel Trash Can" has a removable plastic liner and is tapered for easy removal of heavy trash bags. It also has an extra-wide mouth that measures 14-inches by 10-inches deep to help fit bulky trash. If you are on a budget but still need a high quality kitchen garbage can then check out the "Oxo Good Grips Kitchen 13-Gallon Trash Can" which sells for only $40.00. This garbage can is perfect for the smaller kitchen where space is limited as it measures 14 x 14.8 x 26 inches. Has a foot pedal for easy use and can be secured in place with non-skid, non-scratch feet or can be moved with the oversized hinged handle. Received a 2 star rating on amazon.com, but for only $40 it's a pretty decent investment.

Garbage Can Cart - Trash Can Liner:

Are you looking for some durable garbage can liners? The more $ you spend the stronger and higher quality trash liners you can find, but we found a good product by Webster that is meant for small office or household use. The "Webster Ultra Plus Trash Can Liners Can Liners 16 Gallon 24"x33" come in 1000 Ct. and sell for only $61.00 at shoplet.com. These liners are strong enough to resist most small punctures and received some rave reviews on the web - thanks to some buyer feedback. Just make certain that you don't use trash can liners inappropriately, for example using the office ones mentioned above in the kitchen could create quite a mess. If you have multiple trash cans at home and you want to simplify your life then consider buying a trash can cart. We found most of the carts to be priced between $30 and $60 which would be sufficient for any small homeowner (or little business). Check out stacksandstacks.com where you can purchase a trash can cart that holds two - 30/32 gallon garbage cans. This is a great little cart that provides easy moving of trash cans when you need to get them to the curb on trash day. It sells for $44.99 and measures 41" L x 23" W x 26" H.

Where to Buy An Outdoor Garbage / Trash Can?:

Do you need to buy an outdoor garbage can? You can expect to pay anywhere from $15 all the way up to $200 for an outdoor trash can, it really just depends on where you buy it and what brand you are after. You can buy an outdoor trash can that's made from wood, plastic, rubber, and even a collapsable type that is meant for easy storage. Home Depot sells a lot of outdoor trash cans for under $20, but we reviewed a few of the higher quality products we found online. Suncast makes the nice "Outdoor Hideaway Trash Can" for $59.00. This product is ideal for a public place or your home or whenever a concealed trash bin is needed. Has a latching lid and uses the standard 30 gallon trash bags, measures 31.63" H x 15.75" W x 16" D. Great addition to any deck or patio and weighs only 13 lbs. Another good outdoor trash can is the "Gem Series Wastewatchers 13 Gallon Stainless Steel Swing Top and Hamper" that we found online for $189.00. Comes with swing or push tops and is availalbe in stainless steel or a variety of colors. Overall Dimensions: 29" H x 13" W x 13" D and weighs 16lbs, a very popular product in schools and parks. Check out trashcansandmore.com for more information on these garbage cans.

Bathroom Trash Can / Step On Garbage Cans:

Are you looking for a trash can for your bathroom? The most important thing about buying a garbage can for your bathroom is to find the right size. Most bathrooms are pretty small and you don't want some huge trash can sitting in the corner or blocking access to the rest of the room. We found a great 13 gallon trash can online (available in stainless steel or metal) at instawares.com for between $35 and $41 which includes shipping. This trash can is similar to the type that you see in commerical bathrooms like a doctors' office or some little private business - very efficient and helps keep the odor to a minimum. Their website also sells a decent selection of step on garbage cans that start at about $40. Check out the "United Receptacle Medi-Can Steel Step Can" that offers a self closing foot pedal for hands-free trash disposal. We all know how convenient it is when your hands are full to just step down and open the trash can in your kitchen. This product also has a rigid leak-proof plastic liner, plastic base ring protects the floor, and a carrying handle for easy placement anywhere - sells for $40.00.
