Cactus Plant Reviews and Price Guide:

Do you love the way that cactus look in the wild? Have you ever been to a cactus nursery? I have lived in Las Vegas for the last 4 years and without realizing it cactus plants have become part of my life. I buy a lot of little cactus from my grocery store to liven up my house a bit, but I always get the tiny ones that don't take up much space. There are many types of cactus (artificial, outdoor, desert) that you can buy and you can also select from various size cactus (small, mini, large, etc.). Obviously if you are planning on putting a cactus in your home you don't want it to be very big - maybe 12" tall at the most. If you do own a home and want to spice up your garden or backyard then planting a cactus is a great option. Some people actually love cactus enough to include it in their tattoo, drink the cactus juice (hoodia), and buy books and videos on the unique plant. I think cactus are very beautiful, but you won't see me getting a tattoo that has anything to do with a cactus. Before you decide that adding a cactus would make your property look inviting and lived in, you should read all the information below which will help you learn how to care for a cactus.

Christmas Cactus - Prickly Pear Cactus:

Do you want to buy a Christmas cactus? Maybe you are a fan of the Prickly Pear Cactus? The Christmas cactus is a beautiful plant that will make flower buds when kept in cooler temperatures (50-58 degrees Fahrenheit). This cactus does best with indirect light and a single planting can last for over a hundred years. If you want to buy a Christmas cactus then go to Amazon.com and search for "christmas cactus". Amazon sells the Teleflora's Christmas Cactus for only $41.95, a great deal for this hand arranged cacti that arrive in a wicker basket with handle (14" W x 11-1/2" H). This a nice decoration for any dinner table, but in a pinch this also makes a great Holiday gift. The prickly pear cactus is primarily found in the deserts in the Southwest. Their colorful blossoms grow in yellow, pink, red or purple and grow from the tip of cactus nodules that turn into a sweet red fruit. The fruit on this cactus is a delicacy in Mexico and has gained popularity in America also. To read more information on the cactus or to check out a nice recipe (juice, salad, puree, etc.) go to desertusa.com/magoct97/oct_pear.html.

Indoor Cactus Plants - Artificial Cactus Trees:

How about buying an indoor cactus to help liven up your house a bit? What about getting an artificial cactus? If you want to purchase an indoor cactus then the internet is a great place to start your search. We reviewed a few of the top selling indoor / artificial cactus available on the internet. 1. Buying an Outdoor Cactus / Desert Cactus:

If you live on the West Coast (Nevada, California) especially in the areas with warm climates then I'm sure you are familiar with outdoor cactus. I live in Las Vegas so I'm fortunate to have wild cactus trees growing all over the city. We found a quite a few outdoor cactus for sale on the internet, but if you can't find what you need online you can always go to a Home Depot (or some other local nursery) in your town and hopefully they will have what you want. Most outdoor cactus plants are pretty durable and can handle the extreme heat, but in a place like Las Vegas you definitely want to take extra precautions when trying to grow anthing outside. 1. Giant Saguaro Cactus Plant - comes with soil and planting pot, a beautiful cactus that's native to only Arizona and Sonora, Mexico, can grow up to 50 ft high and live hundreds of years - $19.95 for the 4" pot. 2. Golden Barrel Cactus Plant - very soothing to the eye and a pretty plant, straw yellow spines line each rib on the older plants, check this one out if you want something different - $19.95. You can find these 2 cactus for sale at desertcanyongifts.com/cactusplants/index.htm.

Cactus Pictures - Cactus Care - Cactus Soil & Succulents:

Are you trying to find some good pictures of various cactus plants? There are many different types of cactus and each one has its own look so it's best to view some photos before you decide what cactus you want to put in your garden. There are a lot of websites that have pictures of cactus, but the best site I found was at cactus-mall.com/pictures/gallery.html. Their website has some clear pics along with over 100 links to other websites that have cactus images to check out. Another great website for looking at hundreds of cactus photos is betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGall2.asp?catID=273. Once you decide what type of cactus you want (indoor, prickly, flower, desert, saguaro, etc.) you will have to learn how to care for your new plant. It is well known that in most cases cactus will do well in pots as long as they have 3 things: Water, Light, and Food. Cactus plants that are in a pot are going to need more water (and overall care) than cactus plants that are grown in the ground so get ready to work on your gardening skills. Cactus do need quite a bit of sun to grow, but you don't want to put a cactus in the bright sun as a cactus can burn just like a human. As for feeding cactus you will have to set up a plan that works for you and your schedule, just remember that most potted cactus plants will need some attention immediately after you buy it (soil, bulbs, nutrients, fertilizer, etc.). For more details on growing a cactus check out cactusweb.us/tips.html. A cactus is just a a succulent plant that can store moisture (and water), but not all succulents are cactus and that is where most people get confused. To better understand the difference and what makes a cactus a succulent plant check out cactus-and-succulents.com, their website is very helpful for anybody who wants to get involved with the "cactus family".
