Stihl Power Tool Reviews:

One of the best names in power tools is Stihl, yet you don't find their tools in nationally recognized stores like Home Depot, Lowes, or Sears. Stihl power tools are only sold through their huge # of dealers nationwide. The most popular of all the Stihl saws are their chain saws which are used by loggers to homeowners because they are durable, reliable, and well worth the money. Stihl doesn't just make saws, they also produce blowers, sprayers, augers, drills, edgers, trimmers, and hand tools. The Stihlusa.com official website is loaded with the latest product releases, buying guides for chain saws, and a newsletter with seasonal tips. If you read reviews in Consumer Reports or Popular Mechanics you will find that Stihl power tools get excellent reviews and great customer satisfaction ratings. There are dozens of online websites dedicated to power tools and Stihl consistently lists near the top of all categories.

Where Can I find a Stihl Dealer:

One question that we always get in our feedback section is - How do I find a Stihl dealer near me? Stihl has 100's of dealers nationwide, many in small mom and pop hardware stores in small towns. They work with smaller dealers to ensure that you can find their tools even in the smallest of town across the United States. If you go to http://www.stihldealer.net/locator/ you can quickly and easily find a dealer in your area. You can search for full-line sales and service dealers, construction equipment specialist, and rental service dealers. I did a search in my neck of the wood and came up with almost 10 dealers within 10 miles of me. You can find pricing for products, stores addresses, phone numbers, and their are maps available if you need driving directions.

Stihl Chainsaws:

Stihl offers a variety of chain saws, many for homeowners, some for professionals, and a few for pro arborists. They even carry 3 electric chain saws. One of our favorite models is the Stihl 210 Chain Saw ($180) which is meant for the occasional user and ideal for homeowners needing to cut firewood or trim branches off of trees. The 2 HP engine, ElastoStart starter handle, and side-access chain tensioner make this chain saw easy to use and perfect for yard cleanup and maintenance. The MS 250 is slightly larger (3 HP engine) and works great if you have more than the occasional household chore to do. For those that cut firewood for a living and sell it, the mid-range MS 310 Chain Saw gives you excellent power to weight ratio and an adjustable automatic bar and chain oiler. This poweful saw will allow you to work long hours cutting up firewood without getting fatigued.

Leaf Blower:

If you look at landscapers and professional gardeners, they all own Stihl leaf blowers - backpacks and hand helds. If you are the average homeowner with some leaf cleanup each fall, then consider the lightweight and reliable Stihl BG 55 Blower ($140). It's very affordable and there are optional vacuum kits, flat nozzle, or gutten cleaning kit. The hand blower itself features a round nozzle which provide increased air volume and the primer bulb and throttle lock give you fast starts. Consumer Reports has rated this blower in their magazine and it gets excellent reviews online and through power tool websites. If you have more leaves and require a larger, more powerful leaf blower, consider the Stihl backpack blowers like the Stihl BR 500 ($470). The blower offers a quiet, efficient blower for a reasonable price. At only 65 dB(A) and low emissions, this backpack blower will get the job done in a hurry without getting your neighbors upset over excessive noise. Single handed operation allows you direct leaves easily and at 21 lbs you won't feel exhausted after 30 minutes of blowing leaves. .

Hedge Trimmers:

Another household chore that I always dread is trimming the hedges as they become overgrown. I used to use manually operated sheers but after using the Stihl 45 Hedge Trimmer that my neighbor let me borrow, I now own one of my own. Reviews for this model are excellent as many professionals as well as consumers give this a top rating compared to the competition. It comes avialable with 18" or 24" dual reciprocating, double sided blades. It weighs roughly 10 lbs and is meant for occasional use in your yard. The 18" model sells for $280 while the 24" model goes for $300. If you have hedges and shrubs that need periodic trimming, either of these trimmers will save you countless hours of time if you still use a manual hedge trimmer.
