Finding an Apartment in AustinIf you plan on moving to Austin or just want to find a new apartment, this page should help in your search. Austin, Texas is pretty much right in the middle of the state and offers some excellent housing opportunities that seem affordable compared to the west or east coasts. Austin is a thriving community with companies like Dell in nearby Round Rock and the University of Texas near downtown. Highway I-35 runs through the city and splits it into east and west. Living downtown Austin is a great experience and 6th Street will keep you busy with all the restaurants and bars. Other great areas include those around Lake Travis or in the Cedar Park or Round Rock regions. Rent is not too bad in the city and as you go further out the prices will drop dramatically with affordable living everywhere. The best advice is to drive around to the various neighborhoods and towns to get a feel for what they offer in terms of shopping, work, and apartment rentals. Talk with some apartment managers or property management teams to see what kind of square footage you can afford and in what towns. They will give you a good idea of availability, rent prices, bedroom options (1 or 2) and addresses where they are located. Real estate is still very reasonable in Austin and the outlying areas so don't just settle for renting when the opportunity for ownership (home) may be an option.
