Finding an Apartment in Baltimore

Baltimore, Maryland is a beautiful city located just off the Chesapeake Bay and just 35 miles from Washington DC. Many people choose to live in the Baltimore region and commute into DC since the cost of living is so much cheaper in Baltimore (although it is going up). Many areas of the city have undergone refurbishment programs and new apartments and condos are sprouting up all over the downtown areas. Highway 83 and I-95 merge near the downtown region of Baltimore and the 695 highway does a rather large circle around the city. If downtown living isn't for you, consider towns like Brighton, Towson, Parkville, Pikesville, Baltimore Highlands, or Halethorpe. Many of the watefront apartments in the downtown region are very expensive so consider moving inland a bit to get your rent prices reduced. We suggest by starting your search online at sites like Rent.com or Apartments.com to get a feel for pricing throughout the city and determine which areas you want to expand your search in. There are plenty of 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units throughout the metro area and even rental houses are a great option. Real estate prices have escalated in the last few years so buying a house is certainly not as affordable as it once was. Baltimore was once a forgotten city on the east coast but has gained momentum recently and is now a desirable place to live with a solid economy and affordable housing (compared to DC, NYC, Boston, etc). Call some apartment or property managers to get a feel for what is available and how much you are looking at to rent a 2 bedroom unit before you waste your time showing up at some of the complexes.

The cost of living is high in the Baltimore Metro area, and 1 BR apartments will normally set you back $1300 or more per month. Below are listings for some Baltimore Apartment Rentals.
