Finding an Apartment in DallasThe good news if you plan on living in or around Dallas/Fort Worth is that apartment rents are fairly reasonable. Whether you live in downtown Dallas or go out to the suburbs in places like Irving or Grand Prairie, rentals are affordable and readily available. Unlike other cities that have housing shortages and insanely high apartment rents, Dallas and Fort Worth remain below the nations averages. The big question is where should you call your home in this vast city? Commuting is no picnic in Dallas but there are plenty of freeways to get on including the 635, 35, 45, I-30, and I-20. If you had to choose, we would say pick Dallas over Fort Worth for better living conditions, but don't rule out areas in Fort Worth that are improving year by year. Downtown Dallas is great for those that like big cities, but some of the outlying suburbs offer excellent prices on rental apartments, houses, and condos. Check out Garland, Carrollton, Richardson, Duncanville, Lakewood. Finding a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom unit should be easy, anything bigger can be hit and miss as not all apartment complexes offer 3 bedrooms or larger. If you do need a larger place to rent, consider the condo or house market as rents in those categories are not much more than the apartments.
