Searching for a job online is much easier than wading through the want ads on a Sunday. Job search sites like Monster.com or Yahoo Hot Jobs offer job listings in major cities across America as well as some international locations. Jobs are listed by type (marketing, sales, clerical, nursing, etc) and city. You can also select full or part time jobs. Jobs get posted by employers each day so job openings are always updated daily. Each job listed has a description and an email address where you can respond with your resume or cover letter. Another good site for job opportunities is CareerBuilder.com. It's more based around developing a career than just finding a job. The government is another source of jobs. You can search for FEMA jobs, IRS jobs, and other government jobs.
Monster Jobs:
Monster.com is the best job site on the internet. Their site lets you post your resume, search for jobs by keywords, gives you career advice, has a huge job bank with jobs in the USA, and helps you find job events in your local area where recruiters show up to interview for available jobs.
Yahoo Hot Jobs:
Yahoo Hot Jobs is an excellent site because it is integrated into the Yahoo search engine so nicely. Hot Jobs delivers in every way with job postings daily, complete job descriptions broken down by city or type, and the ability to work on your resume to keep it updated and online at all times.
Top Jobs:
The field of nursing is in high demand these days and much like IT jobs in the late 90's, nursing jobs are paying a lot of money. There are so many types of nursing positions, that many job sites have broken down nurse jobs into sub-categories for all the specific types. Teaching jobs, health care jobs, trucking jobs, and medical jobs are also top picks with online job searches. Federal jobs and accounting jobs get lots of listings on Monster and Hot jobs as well.
Job Bank:
Online job banks are fairly prevalent these days. There are dozens of job sites that store jobs in all categories for end users to search through.
Post a Job?
As an employer trying to find the right candidate for your position, there are many sites to post jobs on. One of the up and comers is Craigslist.org. Once a small site started in the San Francisco area, it has branched out to over 50 cities with job postings in all those cities. As an employer, you can target your job postings by city. It's a great site to start with as well as posting your job opportunities on Monster or Yahoo Hot Jobs. Posting jobs does cost money on all these sites (except Craigslist in certain cities).
