Best ATV - 4 Wheelers Buying Guide:

If you are 5 years old or 55 years old you might love riding motorcyles and going off road on an ATV is an amazing adventure. Nowadays ATV dealers (manufacturers) make off road vehicles (4 wheelers) for kids, adults, and even girls that want to get into the sport. When I was a kid most of my friends rode dirt motorcyles (Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki) for fun and I still remember the first time I went racing with them in the mud and dirt (what a blast as we went riding in the hills and on the track). Today I am a little older and have found a new passion for riding ATVs (not just sitting at home playing ATV fury off road). An ATV (all terrain vehicle) is similar to a dirt bike, but it has 4 wheels and is a little easier to ride for children or beginners (there is less balance and coordination needed as compared to riding a motorcycle). They come in sizes from 50cc, 90cc, 150cc, 250cc, and up to 450cc for adults. Most of the brands you are familiar with like Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, all make ATVs and sell the accessories you need to get started (helmet, pants, boots, googles, lift kit, graphics, cover, racks, etc.) A great website for off road news and other information is motosport.com. If you want to buy a new ATV be prepared to spend between $1800 and $5000 (just depending on what size atv you want). If you are buying an ATV for your children or an amateur rider you might want to buy something small like a 50 cc model - it has less power and is easier to handle. Buying a used ATV is another option, but remember that when you buy something used you are potentially taking on a problem because you don't know how the previous owner cared for the bike. Purchasing a used ATV is cheaper (you can get a good used 250 cc model for about $1500) than buying a new one and if you are good with tools and repairs then it might not be a bad idea.

Buying a Used, Youth, or Kids ATV / Quad Runner:

Are you trying to buy a used ATV or maybe an ATV for your kids? If so then hopefully our ATV reviews will save you a little time and money as you search for the perfect ATV - four wheeler. Many kids today grow up riding ATVs and motorcyles as offroading has become a very popular sport. Some of the more popular models for kids are made by Kymco, Jetmoto, Kazuma, and Can Am. The 1st thing to consider when buying an ATV for kids is the safety features on the vehicle. When it comes to your kids there's no excuse for being cheap before they even ride the new atv. There are hundreds of different models you can buy for you kids, but we reviewed a couple of the more popular ones here. 1. Kazuma Meerkat 50 ATV - a great 4 stroke engine with nice safety features like a kill switch plug near the gas tank, a 4 speed semi-automatic transmission while top speed is about 20 Mph - sells for $525.00. 2. Jetmoto 110 ATV - disc brakes (front), drum brakes (rear), chain driven, weighs 250 lbs with a top speed of 40 Mph and has electric starter - sells for $995.00. You can find these for sale online at racewayatv.com. If you want to save a little cash, or maybe you want to buy a cheap ATV and make sure you like it before you spend a lot of $$ try buying a used one. Craigslist.org is a great website (classified site) online that sells used motorcycles and ATVs in every city in America. You can pick up a used 2006 Kawasaki KFX 400 for about $6000 in Las Vegas which saves you a lot of money. Another popular model for sale is the 2006 Arctic Cat Trv 500 4x4 two seater ATV which you can pick up for about $6000 used. Another model we saw for sale on craigslist was the 1999 Yamaha Warrior ATV which was selling for $2800.00. Buying a used vehicle is always dangerous because you don't know how the previous owner cared for the ATV (break in period, oil changes, etc.), but you might pay half the price of a new ATV and that is a big savings.

Honda ATV - Polaris ATV - Yamaha ATV:

The ATV business has become highly competitive and very lucrative for the big brand names. We reviewed many different makes and models of ATVs, but feel that the ones below are the best and most popular on the market today. Honda has been around forever and they just seem to get better each year with their off road models. 1. Honda TRX 250EX - 229cc and air cooled on this 2007 model which is a single cylinder four stroke, definitely not a beginner ATV - $3799.00. 2. Honda 06 TRX90 - 86cc on this four stroke beauty, for kids 12 years and over and a great ATV for teenagers - msrp sales price $2649.00. 3. Honda TRX450R - this 2007 is a awesome machine with 450cc waiting to race, pro-link suspension on this kick start model (the red version is beautiful) - priced at $6749.00. For all these Honda ATVs check out their website at powersports.honda.com/atvs/. Another great company that makes sweet ATVs is Polaris which has a great website at polarisindustries.com/en-us/ATV/. The Polaris Red Hawkeye 4x4 300 is an extremely popular and well built machine. It has a fuel gauge, standard digital speedometer/odometer/tripmeter/hourmeter and a strong single-cylinder Polaris 300 engine. Their other model that looks great for 2007 is the Sunset Red Sportsman 500 x2 - rear box carries 400lbs and has a selectable 2WD/AWD with On-Demand AWD and Turf Mod. This is another great ATV for anything except racing. For current pricing and availability check out their website (prices are subject to change because the models are brand new). Their website also offers brochures and catalogs so be sure to check them out. Yamaha is another manufacturer that has been making motorcylces for years. The most popular Yamaha ATV is the 2006 Kodiak 450 Auto 4 x 4 which sells for $6299, a very durable and expensive vehicle. Also the Yamaha 2007 Grizzly 80 Hunter is a popular ATV and sells for $2599 - great for kids and beginners. Some of the other Yamaha models are the Big Bear and the Wolverine. The most expensive Yamaha ATV at a dealer is the 2007 Grizzly 700 4 x 4 Outdoorsman Edition which lists for $8899. Suzuki, Bombardier, and KTM also make great ATVs and are popular with riders (professional and amateur).

ATV Accessory - ATV Parts - ATV Helmet:

If you buy an ATV then you are going to need all the extra gear that goes with riding in the dirt. First thing you need to ride an ATV safely is a good helmet. A good new helmet will cost you about $150, but if you want to save money you can buy a used helmet for about half that price or $70 online at a site like craigslist.org. Some of the best helmet manufacturers are Arai, KBC, O'neal, HJC, AXO, Shoei, Fox, Nolan, and No Fear. Check out motorhelmets.com for a complete list of their inventory for dirt and motocross gear. If you are an avid ATV rider then you are probably going to want to buy accessories to customize your bike. Some of the more popular upgrades and extras are a bike stand, atv carrier, ramp, graphics, luggage, tie downs, skid plates, and cargo racks. All of these items are available online as we mentioned above and it is really just your preference as to where you want to spend your money (these are all extras and are not required to ride an ATV safely). If you want to buy ATV parts then check out partsforatvs.com. On their site you can find exhaust systems, brakes, suspension, clutches, tires, wheels, straps, handlebars, battery chargers, pretty much any part you can think of they sell at a good price.

Other Parts - Pieces For ATVs:

1. Snow Plow- piece that attaches to the front of the ATV to shovel (move) snow, popular in cold climates
2. Winches - a great addition to any ATV where the rider is commonly in difficult terrain, attaches to the front
3. Exhaust - many ATV riders want to get a custom exhaust system to make their ride faster and louder - from $180 and up
4. ATV Battery - once in a while needs to be replaced due to extreme temperature - average cost about $40
