Boxing Glove Reviews and Buying Guide:

I have some fond memories of boxing with my brothers in our back yard. I don't remember where we got the boxing gloves from, but we would put them on and go at it. The gloves were heavily padded so no one got hurt and my hands were so small the gloves barely stayed on. I was recently searching for a new pair of gloves that perhaps I could start training with again. The good news is that they are really quite inexpensive - you are looking at spending $25-$30 for a decent pair of Everlast boxing gloves. Other top brands include Century, KD Elite, Harbinger, TKO, and Title Boxing. They are sold in male, female, and youth sizes so everyone in the family can have their own personal set. They are made from leather, durahide, neoprene, vinyl and synthetic leather and colors range from traditional red or black to pink, blue, white, or green. The two main types of gloves that boxers use are boxing gloves and speed bag gloves.

Not everyone needs a professional pair of boxing gloves, but you need to consider the weight of the gloves - they range from 10 oz to 20 oz. The more weight the higher intensity you will feel from working out. If you train with heavier gloves then you'll feel much stronger if you ever enter into a real bout. The wrist closures are many - velco, laceless, laced, etc. In terms of where to shop for boxing gloves, most sporting good stores like Dicks Sporting Goods or Sports Authoritiy will carry a decent variety. Online, we prefer websites like Titleboxing.com and Amazon. You will find a selection of bag gloves, training gloves, pro fight gloves, amateur competition gloves, aerobic gloves, and all the top brand names. Which ones are the most popular? Everlast boxing gloves rank #1 on most sites we found and Century is another top rated brand. To see a list of the top selling boxing gloves on Amazon go here. You will find the cheapest prices and customer reviews of the most popular products which makes buying an easy decision. There aren't a lot of websites with reviews for boxing equipment, especially for gloves. We found more reviews on fitness related websites for things like punching bags, but not too many mention boxing gloves.

Best Boxing Gloves:

There are 2 Everlast style gloves that stand out and sell better than all the others, they are the Everlast Pro Style High Performance Hook and Loop Training Gloves and the Everlast 2962 Traditional Boxing Gloves (12 oz.). We RECOMMEND the Everlast 2962 for are great for those just getting started in the world of boxing or who just want to punch the bag in their garage. The Everlast gloves are made with leather grained Everhide and have foam padding and 100% cotton lining on the inside. We prefer the laceless style boxing gloves and these offer that. The elastic cuff is easy to get on and off without all the hassle of laces like on other brands. Another feature that owners like is the thumb-lok which keeps thumbs from getting into the boxers eyes. You will find the cheapest prices on Amazon for these recreational boxing gloves. For ladies out there that like to get their aggression out, consider the Everlast Women's Pro Style Training Gloves (Pink) for about $30 (depends on weight sizing).

Top Rated Speed Bag Gloves:

When it comes to coordination and building up your hand speed, you need to work on the speed bag. Speed bags build eye hand coordination and boxers rely heavily on this skill. The top rated speed bag gloves are the Harbinger 320 Bag Glove WristWrap and the Century Leather Wrap Bag Gloves Black. Both are priced about the same - $40 - and reviews are favorable for both. These work great when you are looking for a good cardio workout, especially those who enjoy martial arts and kick boxing. Amazon carries a nice selection of speed bag gloxes online.

Youth Gloves:

Kids loves to fight (in an innocent way) and boxing gloves are one way to let them go at it and do it in a safe manner. I grew up with boxing gloves in our household and there were several times that I would "spar" with my older or younger brother. Nothing to extreme, but enough to get your energy out and get hit a few times. Everlast and TKO make good youth boxing gloves and they run about $10 to $30 for a good pair. Make sure you get youth gloves otherwise your kids hands will be falling out. Also, get the 8 oz pairs whenever possible so they can still swing them around without getting too tired.
