Billiard Table Review and Buying Guide:

Do you like shooting pool? Are you thinking about buying a pool table for your family room or game room? Owning a pool table can be a lot of fun, but there are a few things to consider like price, size, color, and of course if your house is big enough for a pool table. I live in a house with only 3 bedrooms and a small living area so a billiard table for me would not be a good purchase. On the other hand if you live in a home with a game room or basement then a pool table might be ideal. One option if you live in a small house or condominium is to buy a bumper pool table (a miniature version). They cost about half the price of a decent pool table and more importantly they are a lot smaller so you can fit them into a spare bedroom or home office. The most common pool tables are 6, 7, or 9 feet in length, while you can usually choose from a variety of colors for the felt like wine, burgundy, purple, or camel brown. Having a billiards table in the house can be a great centerpiece for any room although most people put the table in their family rooms. If you do decide to buy a new pool table try to find a dealer that carries all the big manufacturers because it will give you a bigger selection and lower prices.

Best Billiards Table:

Are you trying to buy a new billiards table? A pool table is a great addition to any home and they usually cost anywhere between $1500 and $10,000 or more if you get a custom (or classic - vintage table). Some of the nicer pool tables are made by Brunswick, Bristol, Dallas Deluxe, Olhausen, Chicago, Rockford, American Family, Mizerack, and Artesian. Once you decide how big of a pool table you are going to buy (most common sizes are 6, 7, or 9 feet), the next consideration is what color felt you want and there are many choices (red, green, black, white, custom, etc.). Most of the pool tables that we reviewed were priced somewhere around $2000.00, but there are some models that are closer to $5,000. Check out Pooltables-direct.com for great deals on new pool tables and other supplies like cues, racks, covers, and instructional videos or dvds. Their website offers some great deals on pool tables. You will see names like Minnesota Fats or Steve Mizerak in marketing several of the leading tables. Many of the billiard table reivews we found were quite favorable for the Minnesota Fats pool tables. Their 8 foot tables are reasonably priced and not a bad alternative to the expensive models we have listed below. RECOMMENDED - We suggest shopping online at Amazon.com since they carry many of the leading brands and often have the lowest prices on the Internet. High End Pool Tables:

If you really want to make a grand statement in that bonus room in your house, consider a high end pool table. Yes, just like you see in pool halls and bar across America. Perhaps the most recognized name is Great American. We are talking top quality, $3000+, and superior craftsmanship. You are paying for the name but also for the design and durability of these. Choose from 7, 8, or 9 foot tables, many with ball returns. Some are even equipped to be put into bars with a coin mechanism or computerized bill acceptor. The home versions have all the bells and whistles - except you don't have to pay to play like you do in public pool halls. See all the Great American billiard tables here. Other luxury brands include Valley Dynamo, Brunswick, and Fischer. These tables are top of the line and will not disappoint.

Used Billiard Pool Tables:

Do you want to buy a used pool table? Buying a pool table can be expensive and after you furnish your house you might be ready to save a little money by buying a used pool table. Using craigslist is a great way to find a used pool table for sale in your city (not to mention a great way to save money). You can find a decent used pool table for about $800, which is under half the price of a new pool table. If you are gonna shop for a used billiards table be sure to look out for an uneven table top, felt that has wrips or tears in it, and of course any nicks or dents in the woodwork. At the time of this writing we found a used 8 foot Arlington pool table for sale on craigslist for only $700 (it also came with a lot of extras like balls, rack, chalk, cues, and cleaning supplies). One thing to remember when buying a used pool table is the moving process. If you buy a pool table new you can usually have the store deliver it to your house or set up the delivery yourself, but if you buy a table used you are gonna have to arrange a way to move it asap. You can always rent a U Haul truck for $35 and get a couple of friends to help you load the table into the truck. The bottom line is that if you are just a beginning pool player or not very serious about the sport then why waste a bunch of $$ on a new table.
