Chicago Bears History:George "Papa Bear" Halas founded pro football in 1920 and the franchise was officially renamed from the Decatur Staleys to the Chicago Bears in 1922. The Bears signed Harold "Red" Grange to the team in 1925 and pro football soon took off. Through the years the Chicago Bears have had legendary players like Mike Singletary, Mike Ditka, Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, Jim McMahon, and Gale Sayers. Soldier Field has hosted some memorable NFL games throughout the years. In 1985 the Chicago Bears and their swarming defense took the SuperBowl from a lowly New England Patiots team. Their season is one of the finest on record with the only loss coming on a Monday night to Dan Marino and the Dolphins. A complete team history is available with decade by decade highlights and stars. The top players today include Jay Cutler, Devon Hester, and Adrian Peterson.
Chicago Bears Cheerleader: Wallpaper and Calendars:The Chicago Bears have no official cheerleaders (probably because the weather is so cold in Chicago), but their official site listed above does offer wallpaper and pictures downloads along with video clips from recent games. The Chicago Bears used to have a group of girls called the "Honey Bears" but they were eliminated by the Bears in 1985. Public opinion is that they Bears fans want the cheerleaders back on the field for gameday, but the owners are not negotiating on this. They have a whole multimedia section and fan zone area for downloads to your desktop. Perhaps in the future they will get cheerleaders back, at one point Refrigerator Perry had his own cheerleading section. Chicago Bears Fan sites?:The only and best Chicago Bears fan site we found was at Webwaymonsters.com with fantasy football links, schedules, player info, draft status, chat rooms, fan pictures, and more. Great download section of wallpaper and screensavers. An update here in November, 2008. The latest site to be added is the Dabearz.com - it's loaded with survey/polls, message boards, standings, roster moves, and general team information throughout the season. Could use a little more updating, but not bad.We also found another new site at Ultimatebearsfan.com and they do a great job of updating the site showing gameday info on upcoming games, player moves, and a nice selection of wallpaper, music, and videos. They even carry the "Super Bowl Shuffle 1985" that you can listen to on the site.
