The Cleveland Browns have had a storied history in Cleveland starting back in 1946 when they won the league championship and proceeded to win it again from 1947-1950. They were title holders again from 1954-55 and once more in 1964. Since then they have had playoff appearances but have always come up short when it counts the most. In the late 1980's the Browns lost some heart breaking games to the John Elway led Denver Broncos and seem to have never recovered. Kevin Mack, Bernie Kozar, and Earnest Byner did their best to give the fans lots of enjoyment during those years, but they never won the "big game". Jim Brown is perhaps the most notorious player to have ever put on a Cleveland Browns uniform. Jim Brown was perhaps the greatest football player of all time depending on who you talk to. The Cleveland Browns were moved as a franchise in 1996 to Baltimore (Ravens) but the city showed such promise for the team of old that the Browns franchise re-emerged in 1999 back into the NFL. With current players like Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Joshua Cribbs, Joe Jurevicius, and Jamal Lewis, this year may be the breakout year. The division is loaded with powerhouse teams like Baltimore and Pittsburgh, so no matter what, the Cleveland Browns will need to play great in order to win. You can check out all the team details (draft news, standings, schedules, roster moves, injury reports, video highlights) at Clevelandbrowns.com. The Browns will need to decide if it's Quinn or Anderson at QB in order to be successful.
Cleveland Browns Cheerleaders: Wallpaper and Calendars:
Although the Cleveland Browns have no cheerleading squad (this topic is discussed yearly with management who wants the team to remain focused on football), the fans still come out to the games to cheer on the lowly Browns. We have read countless message boards by Cleveland Browns fans desperately asking for a cheerleading squad so that something can be entertaining during the games, but nothing yet. We'll keep you posted. As for player downloads and fun desktop games, wallpaper, and screensavers, check out the Browns official website listed above. Then go into the Fun and Games section. There you will find a 2009-10 Cleveland Browns screensaver available for free download, a desktop theme, and about 15 desktop wallpaper images of Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar, Derek Anderson, Joshua Cribbs, Edwards, Brady Quinn, and other great players. All background pictures are free and come in 3 sizes. There is also a Cleveland Browns coloring book online for the kids and you can print out the cartoon and color or paint them. Lastly, there are interactive games for fans of all ages - the most popular being Through the Uprights. With more people downloading goodies to their cell phones, the Browns are ready with wallpaper, graphics, and a Brown ringtone you can get.
Cleveland Browns Merchandise/Apparel:
Buying Cleveland Browns football tickets is fairly easy as they don't sell out their home games too often these days. You can buy single game tickets, season tickets, get seating charts HERE, and Cleveland Browns Stadium information on the teams main website. They even supply ticket information for away games in case you want to attend Browns road games. For Cleveland Browns apparel, go to Clevelandbrownsteamshop.com/ and check out their broad range of merchandise categories like dishware, collectibles, golf, headwear, Christmas gear, jerseys, ladies, nfl equipment, outerwear, pet supplies, polos & sweaters, shorts, sweatshirts, fleeces, t-shirts, tailgate, throwbacks and youths. Fan sites:
For a local flare, not necessarily from a true fan, check out Cleveland.com/browns/ with the latest news, stories, and team information. There is a photo gallery, game by game reviews, roster updates as they move through mini camps, training camp news, a section called "Dawg Blog" with lots of daily entries to read, and a multimedia gallery with video highlights. We highly recommend TheBrownsboard.com, a message board type of site with fan discussions on players, contracts, upcoming games, tailgating, tickets, and much more. It's a pretty complete site for an avid Browns fan with daily updates and in depth stories. Our last pick for a quality Cleveland Browns fan site is at Dawgbones.com. They have live chat rooms, fan forums, a nice wallpaper collection, a toolbar for quick updates, and a complete season breakdown of players and games. Update 11/08 - a new site is on our radar now called Browns247.com and it is perhaps the most loaded site with tons of fun stuff and serious team talk.
