Reviews of the Best Golf Clubs Online

Golf used to be a sport for the old men in the world, but Tiger Woods came along and changed everything. Now everyone wants to be like Tiger. The top manufacturers of golf clubs (Ping, Callaway, Nike, Cleveland, Wilson, Cobra, Titleist, and Taylor Made) have all seen huge revenue jumps since Tiger turned pro in 1997. Nike didn't join the golf club arena until late in the game, but they chose Tiger Woods as their man, and he has delivered. A decent set of golf clubs (3 iron thru pitching wedge) will run you $600 or more. A driver and any fairway woods are more. Drivers can run as high as $400 for the latest Taylor Made models. Putters are about $50. Golf is not cheap in terms of equipment and that is why the used and discount golf stores and websites have become very popular recently. Many people only play a few times and give up the sport and then offer perfect condition golf clubs for half price. We strongly suggest starting with a used golf club set and making sure you like the sport first before splurging on a $1000 set of clubs. There are dozens of sites that offer golf clubs online, but we feel there are a few stand out sites. GolfGalaxy.com, TGW.com, Gigagolf.com. The best used golf club sites are Callawaygolfpreowned.com, Golfdiscount.com, and Oldclubs.com. The discount golf club market has exploded in recent years so take advantage of a deal when you get it.

Taylor Made Golf Clubs:

Taylor made is one of the oldest names in golf. Their irons are considered top of the line and used by many PGA professionals. The R7 Quad Driver is the most famous driver offered these days. The golf club actually has weighted screws you can adjust on the fly. Seems illegal, but isn't. They offer rac irons for all playing abilities. Maxfli and Noodle golf balls are also sold by Taylor Made.

Nike Golf Clubs:

Nike has one big advantage that the other manufacturers don't, they have Tiger Woods endorsing their products. For a long time Tiger stayed away from Nike in terms of using all their irons, drivers, etc. Eventually, Tiger Woods was convinced it's not the club, but the player that makes the difference. Nike joined the golf club and apparel business later than the other major manufacturers but with the top player in the world playing their equipment, they have caught up in a hurry.

Ping Golf Clubs:

Ping has always been associated with top of the line clubs (perhaps the most expensive). Their current G5 series are not cheap, but have been given high praise with PGA pros. Ping putters have always been at the top of the list in terms of best feel and that has not changed. As with anything that is expensive, you can get a discountd set of Ping golf clubs for 1/2 off retail that have only been used once or twice.

Callaway Golf Clubs:

Callaway has the best woman in golf endorsing their products (Annika Sorenstam) and that elevated their name in recent years. However, the most famous golf club of all time originated with Callaway, the Big Bertha Driver. People flocked to see and buy this huge headed golf club years ago and still do. Phil Mickelson recently switched to Callaway and seems to be enjoying great success with their brand in his bag.

Cleveland Golf Clubs:

Vijay Singh, David Toms, and many other players endorse Cleveland golf clubs. They are gaining in golf club market share each year from the big names. They offer the Launcher series of drivers, and their irons are CG1, CG4, and TA6. Cleveland is most notorious for their wedges. If you play golf, you need to use Cleveland wedges.

NGC Golf Clubs and Equipment:

If you are willing to step outside of all the "branded" clubs with big names, check out NGCGolf.com. They make and market "scientific" golf gear, like The Controller 460cc driver with a once-secret metal coating that came out of military use that is 70% harder than titanium -- it sells for $139 with graphite shaft. Or how about the Condor Stand-up Putter? For $99, you get a putter that is specially weighted so that it stands on its own when placed in normal putting position -- you can then move back and read your putt and adjust the club accordingly so it is lined up perfectly when you are ready to putt. You can check out additional products at their site, ranging from training aids to balls to full sets of irons. Most of their products are USGA legal, but a few break the rules like a weighted putter and a weighted driver -- if you've got golf buddies that are sticklers for the rules, better to keep them in the dark.

Where can I buy Used and Discounted Golf Clubs Online:

With golf's increase in popularity recently, the amount of used and discounted clubs available online has gone through the roof. Most people end of quitting golf after less than 6 months because it is a hard game to learn and when they quit, they sell perfect good clubs on the used golf club websites. There are 3 main sites with great used golf club deals, Golfbargains.com, Golfdiscount.com, and Golfjoy.com.
