They struggled for years even with great players like Nolan Ryan and finally made the playoffs in 1980. From 1997 to current the Houston Astros have continually performed well and made the playoffs almost every year. In 2005 they reached the pinnacle of baseball, the World Series and lost to the Chicago White Sox. Past players have included Joe Morgan, Rusty Staub, Cesar Cedeno, Mike Scott, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Moises Alou, Jeff Kent and Roger Clemens. The current roster has Andy Pettitte, Lance Berkman, Joe McEwing, and Willy Taveras. The Astros play their home games at Minute Maid Park (they used to play at the Houston Astrodome). With the new players and recent success, the Houston Astros are only a few games out of first place in 2006 and looking to get back to the World Series.
