Houston Astros - History - Logo - Rosters - Players:

The Houston Astros entered baseball in 1962 as the Houston Colt 45's and changed their name for good to the Astros in 1965. They struggled for years even with great players like Nolan Ryan and finally made the playoffs in 1980. From 1997 to current the Houston Astros have continually performed well and made the playoffs almost every year. In 2005 they reached the pinnacle of baseball, the World Series and lost to the Chicago White Sox. Past players have included Joe Morgan, Rusty Staub, Cesar Cedeno, Mike Scott, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Moises Alou, Jeff Kent and Roger Clemens. The current roster has Andy Pettitte, Lance Berkman, Joe McEwing, and Willy Taveras. The Astros play their home games at Minute Maid Park (they used to play at the Houston Astrodome). With the new players and recent success, the Houston Astros are only a few games out of first place in 2006 and looking to get back to the World Series. You can follow the team online at Astros.com and get statistics, standings, schedules, tickets, roster moves, injury reports, and news.

Houston Astros - Pictures - Ringtones - Wallpaper:

Major league baseball has started offering what all fans want, downloads from your favorite team for your cellular phone. It's called Baseball to Go and you can get mobile alerts on games, ringtones, wallpaper, video highlights and more. Personalize your wireless phone with Houston Astros players, logos, and sounds. If you want more digital downloads for your computer, then try the Multimedia section of the site for Gameday Audio, Videos, Photo Galleries, and the MLB.com all access pass. If you go to the main site listed above and click on the "Fan" section you will find quality desktop wallpapers of Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Willy Taveras, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and some 2005 World Series and playoff wallpapers as well. All come in 800 X 600 or 1024 X 728 sizes. Downloads are free for fans. We found the free email newsletter for the Houston Astros to be informative and fun.

What is MLB.TV?:

"For only $14.95 a month or $79.95 a season, you can watch virtually every out-of-market game in high quality with your broadband connection. Major League Baseball pioneered this technology for making its full schedule of games available live over the Internet, and it has become a way of life for fans who are watching their favorite team from home, the office, at college or in a hotel room on a business or vacation trip." When you consider that the price per game is about $1, how can you lose.

Houston Astros - Tickets - Schedules - Jerseys - Merchandise/Apparel:

Of course when a team reaches the playoffs, not to mention the World Series, ticket sales boom for the coming year. 2006 looks like another good ticket sales year with prices still very reasonable for a family. You can get mezzanine seats for $16 and order right online. There are promos, esavers, fireworks Fridays, ticket exchanges, and ticket auctions available. If you are an Astros fan, then get ready to shop on their main website. You will find items like the 2005 Houston Astros - The Championship Season DVD ($19.99), Houston Astros Customized Authentic Road Jersey, Houston Astros Authentic Collection Dedication T-Shirt by Majestic Athletic, Houston Astros Authentic Fitted Game Cap, Houston Astros Zippo Lighter, and the Antigua Houston Astros Women's Unlimited T-Shirt. There are dozens of collectibles for the 2005 World Series and playoff memorabilia that you don't want to pass up. Most item range from $10-$50. Some of the autographed team pictures from last year are $100's. Our favorite item is the Houston Astros Authentic Customized Home Jersey where you can get your name on the jersey or Hall of Famers like Nolan Ryan.

Houston Astros Fan sites?:

When it comes to fan sites, we found the most comprehensive site for the Houston Astros at Astroszone.com. The amount of information was astounding. You can get photos, news, feedback on players and recent games, and even subscribe to a newsletter. A site called Astroland.com was very interesting as well with dated baseball cards all the way back to 1962 when they Astros (Colt 45's) played at Old Colt Stadium. With the recent success of the team, I'm sure more fan sites will popup this year. For now, enjoy the sites above and go Astros.
