Indiana Pacers Players, History:

In 1967 the Indiana Pacers joined the ABA (an alternative to the NBA) and have been a big part of professional basketball ever since. The Pacers won 3 championships in the ABA before they were invited to join the NBA in 1976 (along with New York, Denver and San Antonio). During the early years in the NBA the Pacers were never really that good, they did pick up Adrian Dantley in a trade only to see him traded the very same year. In 1981 Indiana made the playoffs for the first time, but lost in the 1st round to the Philadelphia 76ers. In 1982 the Pacers drafted Clark Kellogg (who would end up finishing 2nd in voting for rookie of the year), yet it was not until 1987 and the arrival of Reggie Miller that really brought any long term hope to the franchise. Reggie was drafted in the 1st round from UCLA and went on to be a consistent all-star, along with being one of the best shooting guards to ever play the game. In 1988 the Pacers drafted Rik Smits and 1 year later they found themselves playing the Pistons in the playoffs. Detlef Schrempf and Chuck Person were also added to the Pacers lineup in hopes of giving Reggie Miller some help to take Indiana farther in the playoffs. In 1994 Reggie Miller became a star as he played an amazing playoff series against the Knicks, but New York had so much talent that they won the series in 7 games. The mid 1990's were a good time for the Pacers as Mark Jackson and Larry Brown had joined the roster and helped them to continue their playoff run. Unfortunately for Miller (and the Pacers) Michael Jordan was at his prime in the 90's and his Bulls were just to good (Chicago would win 6 NBA Titles before Jordan retired). In the late 90's Indiana brought Larry Bird in to coach the squad and in 2000 the Pacers finally reached the NBA Finals- where they would lose to Shaq and his Lakers in 6 games. A great website for Pacers history and pics is nba.com/pacers. The last 6 years have been up and down for the Pacers as they brought in players like Jermaine O'Neal, Dale Davis, Stephen Jackson, and Ron Artest to beef up their starting 5. Reggie Miller finally retired in 2005 after 18 great years in the NBA. Miller saw his jersey, #31 retired by the Pacers in 2006 and it appears that Indiana will always be trying to fill his shoes. This season should be interesting for Pacers fans as they watch Indiana try to mold a lot of young talent into a team.

Indiana Pacers Cheerleaders, Pictures:

The 2006-2007 season should be an exciting one for NBA fans, and if you are a Pacers fan it should be even better with the Pacemates dancing up a storm every night. For photos, biography, and personal stuff about the dancers check out nba.com/pacers/dance/pacemate_profiles_0607.html where you can learn a little more about your favorite girls on the squad. Angela and Amanda are 2 of the more popular girls who dance with the Pacemates, but if you are like us it will be hard for you to pick a favorite girl.

Where can I buy Indiana Pacers Tickets, Jerseys, Schedule, and Merchandise?:

Nba.com/pacers is the best overall site to buy Pacers tickets. Expect to pay $10 (for the worst seat) all the way up to $200 for a good seat near courtside. Pacers fans have become very loyal after Reggie Miller was drafted in 1987. Conseco Fieldhouse is a beautiful arena and the Pacers will sell it out on occasion (usually when Miami or Detroit is in town). Season tickets are another option if you are a huge fan and have to time to attend 40 games or so over the course of a season. If you are looking to buy Pacers merchandise (shoes, hats, shirts, jerseys) then be sure to try ebay.com. Ebay is a great website to shop on because they sell every item you could imagine as a Pacers fan, they even sell memorabilia from the 70's. The most popular Indiana Pacers jersey is #31 which was Reggie Millers number and sells for about $50 ($300 if it is autographed). Jermaine O'Neal also sells a lot of jerseys (#7) and is probably the best players the Pacers have this season. Indiana has some great games coming up this season - many of them against long time rivals like New York, Detroit, and Philadelphia. For Pacers home schedule and game times check out nba.com/pacers/schedule/index.html.

Indiana Pacers Fansites, Wallpaper:

The Indiana Pacers have been a really good basketball team over the last 15 years - a big reason for all the Pacers fansites popping up. A good Pacers fansite we found was fast-cities.com/Indy/sports/pacers.php where you can start your search for Pacers info and updates. The website offers pictures, news, trade rumors, wallpapers, and even a forum for Pacers fans who have questions or comments on the season. If you want to try building a fansite then check out tripod.com (a free webhosting service) where you can build your own Pacers fansite. Today a lot of Indiana Pacer fans are showing their support by launching a website that represents Pacers basketball. Building a website can be fun as you watch other fans check out your fansite and leave comments (or questions) about the Pacers team. In the old days NBA fans would collect basketball cards and hats or whatever merchandise they could get their hands on. In 2006 fans have turned to the internet for their Pacers goodies (photos, wallpapers, news, contests) and now Indiana waits to see how good the Pacers will be this season.
