If you live in Minnesota then you are probably a Timberwolves fan (or as the local fans refer to them "T Wolves") ever since the 1st time you saw Kevin Garnett play the game and put up huge stats. Garnett is the face of the Timberwolves organization mainly because he is their best player and leader. The T wolves entered the NBA in 1989 as an expansion team in the Western Conference and have had a few good playoff runs, but they have never reached the NBA Finals. A great website for Timberwolves news and history is nba.com/timberwolves. The state of Minnesota accepted the basketball team as soon as they tipped the 1st ball at The Target Center. Kevin Garnett is the MVP from 1994 and an 8 time all-star in the league which is why he got his $126 million contract. The Wolves have had some great players over the years like Sam Cassell, Stephon Marbury, Mike James, Ricky Davis, Tom Gugliotta, Donyell Marshall, Wally Szczerbiak, Marcus Banks, and Randy Foye. This season could be a good year for the Timberwolves franchise as Garnett and head coach Dwayne Casey work with the younger players (rookies) on the team to mold a winning team. The T wolves logo is just a blue and grey face of a wolf (not very creative but it looks cool). Minnesota will have a tough year ahead though as they have to face the Spurs, Lakers, Rockets, Nuggets and Suns on an almost nightly basis in the west. If you want to check out their schedule and home games coming up in 2006-2007 check out nba.com/timberwovles/schedule.
This is an exciting year for the Timberwolves and their fans, but the real excitement comes from their dance team. If you want photos, news, meet and greet info, or just any general news on the girls check out nba.com/timberwolves/dance_team/latest_news.html. This year a few of the favorite cheerleaders on the team are Erica, Sally and Erin (although it was hard for us to pick a favorite in our review). The women are moms and career women also, but they enjoy dancing and cheering on their team (it's not about the money for these dancers). The girls are all very talented and if you have not seen them perform yet at a home game you should do yourself a favor and go check them out. The squad also puts on a junior dance clinic for young girls in the local area who are interested in performing and the arts.
