Oakland Athletics - History - Logo - Rosters - Players:
The Oakland A's started their franchise in Philadelphia in 1901 and then moved to Kansas City in 1954. In 1968 they moved to Oakland and have been there since. The Philadelphia A's won 5 World Series titles but the most impressive feat was 3 in a row from 1972-74 from the Oakland A's. They continued playing well in the 1980's with more World Series appearances and then the team disappeared in the 1990's. They have rebounded nicely and are a contender every year since 2000. Reggie Jackson led the team to the early 70's World Series and other great players have included Tony Armas, Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Vida Blue, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Jason Giambi, Ricky Henderson, Tim Hudson, and Dave Stewart. Pitching has always been the cornerstone of this club but the "bash brothers" in the late 80's and early 90's certainly did their damage as well.
